A big thank you to Vic Thompson (YABA Jun.Vice President) for presenting our club competition trophies, the Eric Wilkinson Plate and the Coronation Cup. Congratulations to all winners and runners up.
After a tight finish, we managed to keep our noses in front in the final. Won 17-14. 🧿🧿

On Friday 11 November HRP celebrated the 2022 bowls season, and what a good season it was!
Congratulations to all the winners of the Club Competitions, and a special mention to winners of the York Super 7s, the Yorkshire County Over 65s Fours, the YABA Singles and the Hot Shots Club.
Many thanks to John Butler, President of the YABA, for presenting the trophies.
What a great day! Last month, 4 of the York Railway Bowls and Social Club members which included HRP’s Geoff Walker (2nd Left), won the Yorkshire County over 65’s Fours Competition, beating Borough Park Redcar 20-15 in the final. Fabulous win and well played to all. Other members from left, Brian Chapman, (Alwyn Baron YBA President), Steve Atkinson and Phil Parsons.
Today the Ebor Carpets Hot Shots Team (all HRP members) entered into the York Railway Bowls & Social Club Open Triples competition. Kirk Jackson, Pete Jackson & Geoff Walker played a good game making it into the quarter finals, but unfortunately losing on the last end to the Shipton Incredabowls.
On Thursday The York Press published an extract from The Yorkshire Evening Press dated 18 August 1972, 50 years ago.
The photograph really captured the moment and the text reads...
The Walker brothers (centre), Gordon and Freddie, of Hull Road Park Bowls Club, York, are joined by team-mate Bill Botterill (left) and the Durham skip, as they await the next wood in the first round of the EBA Triples Championship at Mortlake yesterday. Hull Road Park, York, went out of the second round of the triples last night. The York trio were beaten 14-25 by the National and British Isles Triples title holders, Marlow, Bucks.
"It was a pretty tough draw having to go up against the reigning champions, but that's life," said Freddie.
What a great day. This Saturday our Hull Road Hurricanes team won the Super 7’s trophy for the first time. We were up against strong opposition, but managed to pull off an amazing win. Well done guys!
How about this? Four of our members qualifying for the Hot Shots Club by obtaining a Maximum score at one end during a recent game. Well done to you all, this doesn’t happen very often.

HRP team playing one of their weekly YABA League matches held on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the season.
Here’s a few photos of our green and Clubhouse. Lovely setting and very pleasant when the sun shines. There is also the observation lounge where you can enjoy a drink whilst watching, or even have a chat after the game.
Come and join us for game. We are a long established Club who would welcome new starters and established bowlers alike. Send a message or text if you’d like to ‘have a roll up’ with us, and we’ll make sure we will be there to welcome you and introduce you to the sport.
