And that’s a wrap …..

Our third year at Thornton-le-dale was another huge success!

We had so much fun meeting everyone and helping all customers, new and old regain their hearing!

Thank you so much for your continued support and extra special thanks to Carol Ellis for helping set everything up and manning the stall and to Sammy Smailes for the loan of the generator which kept us going all day!

We look forward to seeing you all again next year

Over the last few days I’ve had quite a few challenges!

I’ve had two separate clients who had both been treated for wax removal by other practitioners unsuccessfully and still had to pay.

Today was a particularly tricky one who had been pointed in my direction for irrigation.

However on assessment I could see the ear was extremely full of quite dense hard wax which could be dangerous to irrigate so I chose to manually extract the wax.

Along with the help of some additional oil, after a few little movements I was able to get a good hold of the wax and pull it out….

I was quite surprised at the length and the client was shocked to say the least!

This lovely client is now able to have their hearing assessment completed knowing they have totally wax free ears. Another good day at work 🙂.

Did you know we do foreign object removal too?

Yesterday I visited a client who had used an ear plug to drown out a loud busy hotel while on holiday, but it unfortunately got stuck!

They had a constant buzzing in their ear which was ‘driving them crazy’.

This person visited a local GP who told her they couldn’t see anything but wax 🤔.

After a chat and assessment of the ear I could see it was occluded by the ear plug.

We opted for microsuction with it being the safest option and pulled the plug out in a matter of seconds.

Once the plug was removed there was also some wax blocking the drum which was easily removed.

This person was particularly happy as the buzzing stopped almost immediately and all for only £40.

Did you know that untreated hearing loss has been linked to dementia?

Ear wax can contribute to hearing loss so of course always best to keep on top of your ear health.

We recommend on average you have your wax removed once a year but this may be more if you have hearing aids.

After some client feedback, I have just taken delivery of a thousand of our new and improved business cards!

Today I visited a client in Scarborough who was very death and extremely nervous about having their ears done after bad experiences with their GP practice.

As advised, they prepped their ears for 3 days prior to the appointment and after a brief discussion they decided microsuction was the best choice for them!

These were some of the fullest ears I had seen as it had been 4 years since they had been done!

The was at the entry of the ear proved too much for my suction device so I opted for my crocodile forceps to remove the first blockage which revealed the softer deeper wax which I was able to safely and comfortably remove with the suction machine!

Hearing instantly restored and one very happy customer! Who was also a little shocked at the amount of wax we removed!

Pictured is wax from both ears, possibly the most I have ever removed. What an excellent result 🙂
