April's looking pretty green, and there's even one ingredient you can forage for free! Do you know it?
It's the wild garlic - it's easy to identify because of the smell (garlicky!) when you crush the leaves, and both the leaf and flower is edible.
Why eat seasonal and local?
☀️ Flavours and nutrients are fully developed = tastier and healthier
🌎 Travelled fewer miles to get to your plate, needs less packaging and resources = better for the environment
😉 Easily available at this time of year = cheaper!

We’ve all been there. The recipe asks for a few spinach leaves, but you can only find enormous bags. The solution? A frozen swaption! ❄️
🍃 Swapping fresh spinach for frozen is a win-win!
Say goodbye to wilted spinach not used in time and do something good for the planet by reducing the amount of food you put in the bin by buying frozen.
You'll always have some ready to cook at your fingertips and you can use as little or as much as you need. 👍
🍳 Ideal for using in omelettes and many other delicious meals, spinach is full of nutrients and the goodness is locked in when it's frozen. It also contributes to 1 of your 5 a day!
As Popeye says, “I'm strong to the finish 'cause I eats me spinach.” 💪
So will you swap fresh for frozen❔ Let us know below.

🥪 Jackie, Campaign Manager for Love Food Hate Waste shared expert advice on Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4 this afternoon 🥪
The UK produces 5.9 million tonnes of food waste every year and almost half of that is still edible!
Jackie explained why date labels on food and the changes made recently is so important:
"A range of supermarkets and manufacturers are removing use-by dates.
🥳 It's brilliant news!
They're doing it on products like yogurts, milk, hard cheese and pasteurized juices and it means we can waste less food because we can continue to eat them for longer."
For guidance about the difference between Use-By and Best-Before date labels, check out our date labels blog: 💬

🥔🦌 4.4 million potatoes are thrown away every day from UK homes - this weighs the equivalent of almost 12,900 reindeers!
Each little bit of food we waste contributes to climate change. This Christmas we can work towards a better future for our planet by buying just what we need, storing our food correctly and making the most of our leftovers. 🎅
Did you know? Recent research has found that potatoes stored in the fridge can last more than three times as long compared with storage at room-temperature, such as in a cupboard.
