I have fabric envy today - working with this gorgeous Liberty London Tana Lawn cotton for a customer 😍

How about this for perfect timing - just as I am stepping back from offering one-to-one tuition Bugweeds are reopening for classes! I definitely recommend them for group sessions, and am planning to make it to some of their socials (with my work hat firmly off!)

There's nothing subtle about today's fabric, but I love it all the more for that!

After my mammoth fabric washing session the other day I've been working on some personal projects in my 'spare' time. First to be finished is this skirt from border print poplin - I'm pretty pleased with how it's turned out, especially the fact that it has pockets!!

Taking advantage of the sunshine to pre-wash another load of fabric, lots of cottons in here (both for me and for customers)

This pretty patchwork dress is heading off to its new home today, I just hope we get some warmer weather soon so they can actually wear it!!

I finally got in to visit Bugweed's Fabrics & Crafts Ltd new physical shop today, yay! It's such a lovely shop, with a wonderful selection of fabrics you really will be spoilt for choice.

It's a minor miracle I only brought these 3 lengths home with me, I'm looking forward to getting them sewn up :-)

This vintage-inspired patchwork dress is fresh off my sewing machine this morning. I can't wait to get it on the mannequin and take some full-length photos.

It's not a work day here, but these pieces of cotton arrived for a commission so I'm taking advantage of the sunshine and breeze to get them washed and ready to sew later in the week.

How stunning is this full-length cloak?! Made from dark petrol coloured fleece, and with extra length so it puddles around you when you stand (160cm), it's been listed in my Etsy shop this morning.

The days are getting warmer but the evenings are still a bit chilly. This dark grey fleece wrap is an ideal extra layer for evening socialising though - just listed now in my Etsy shop.

Despite being back at work properly this week I haven't got anything visually interesting to show you. I *have* finally got round to top stitching the neckline on this red panda top though, so I can wear and enjoy it!

***Re-opening for appointments***

It looks like I should be able to reopen for fitting appointments from next week, thank goodness! Fittings (for alterations or bespoke commissions) will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.30 - 2.30 and Saturday mornings, on an appointment only basis.

The same precautions as pre-lockdown apply - face coverings must be worn, I will be wiping down all touchpoints before/after appointments and keeping my workroom well ventilated.

No in-person lessons yet, and if you're not comfortable with in-person fittings then the "drop and go" service for alterations is still available to you.

Children returning to school means the return of a bit of normality here - today is my first day back at work, so I'm spending it running round like a mad hatter trying to get everything done all at once 🤦🏻‍♀️ can I get it all done by 2.40...

BUSINESS ANNOUNCEMENT...

Due to big changes here later in the year I am only taking bespoke commissions with a deadline of August or earlier.

Schools reopening means I will be resuming my standard Tuesday / Thursday work pattern (woohoo!) but I have limited capacity so do plan ahead if you want something special!

One-to-one tuition will resume as soon as I am permitted to, and will run until August as well.

From August I will still be running my Etsy shop, and will take a limited number of cape/cloak commissions through there, but I will no longer be offering bespoke clothing commissions or tuition.

Took a break from sewing orders this evening to sew up this top for my eldest, love the smiley happy planets and sun 😍

Well that's us under full lockdown again... regardless of what the legislation says I will be unable to offer fittings and other appointments due to childcare, but I can offer a contactless drop off/ collect service plus the usual online offering from my Etsy shop.

I finally got in to the new sewing shop Sewcialising in town today! I didn't leave empty handed either, some gorgeous little sewing scissors and some soft jersey made their way home with me (both for me).

They've got a nice selection of fabric, habby, tools and patterns, a bit different from York's other offerings so definitely worth a visit!

It's a busy workshop here this week! First up, a slightly revised version of my satin trimmed cape for a person who would struggle with the clasp. It looks so nice I might make it part of my standard offering!

I've not had chance to visit yet, but this new fabric shop in York looks worth a visit! :-)

We are open from 10am until 5pm each day.
