Nipping up to grab a snack in my bikini after hours by the pool looked like a chocolate croissant and a glass of (god forbid…) full sugar coke. 🥐
Me 10 years ago would have NEVER. I’d have worried I’d bloat, that I wouldn’t look small enough in my bikini, that my enjoyment of my holiday was hugely impacted by how aesthetically pleasing my body was. 👙
A reminder…I still have days my body image impacts me. I sent a picture of me in a new bikini to a couple of my besties and asked if it looked ok before I came away. It did. We liked it and I’ve worn it while away. 🙃
But those days are few and far between now. And I enjoy it. And I still went back down and sat by the pool with a tummy full of sugar, a sweaty top lip, a bikini on and a happy heart. 🩷
Please don’t let your body image, a moral value of food or the size on your swimsuit dictate your happiness. ⚡️
From someone who has been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt in a smaller size to try and fit into…it just isn’t worth it. The croissant and having fun by the pool on holiday is. 😘

What a special day at Portland College for the This Girl Can day. What a privilege it was to share not just the wonderful sport of Strong(wo)man, but I was given the chance to share my story. ✨
I got to share why Pink Girls are Powerful has so much more meaning beyond just the relevance to me, and I got to share how having ADHD recently diagnosed has impacted my life. ⚡️
Representation matters. But today felt like a little pinch me moment on the way home when I realised I was the one “representing”.
For the girls who want to be strong wearing an outfit that makes them feel 🔥 and for those whose brains might work slightly differently. 🩷
I likened my experience with ADHD to spending hours trying to fit AA batteries into a remote that needs AAAs. The remote isn’t broken, the method to make it work is. 💁🏼♀️
The thing about today was for me to help inspire girls into sport - but those learners, wow. I’m the one who came away inspired. The kindness they showed, the enthusiasm they offered and their bravery to try something new. If we could bottle that up we’d be millionaires I swear. 🤭
How lucky am I? To have a job that allowed me leave to volunteer, and to own business where I’m able to help have a positive impact. Whether that be a big realisation about capabilities, or somebody putting their hands on an axle for the first time. 🍀
Thank you for inviting me - it’s people like you who change a little bit of the world by helping shape the next generation and offer them opportunities they wouldn’t ordinarily have access to. What a legend. ⭐️

Just over 6 months ago I took a hell of a risk (…again). Almost the reverse of a decision I made in 2019. In January I stepped away from a big chunk of my business to join a team I’d wanted to work in for years, after a little glimpse of how they functioned. 👑
Wouldn’t change a thing. The BEST (and hardest) decision I’ve made for myself in the longest time. ⚜️🩷
Not quite sure where to begin with this bunch today…but this yapper right here will give it a bash. 🤭

There’s something super special about heading back to where I entered my first ever Strongwoman comp in 2022. smashes it every year and provides such a lovely environment for athletes and spectators alike. 🫶🏼
But back to this bunch…
2 entering their first ever comp. The other 2 stepping into categories they weren’t sure they were ready for. All facing huge nerves and knocking it out the park. ✨
2 podium places, a medical emergency (and going back out on the comp floor 40 minutes later) and PBs for EVERYONE. 🤯
The mental toughness, physical strength and determination from them all makes me beyond proud. Proud of them as athletes. Prouder of them as people. The integrity and fire is EVERYTHING Unruly stands for. 🩷⚡️

Being injured sucks. 🤕
Being injured and not knowing the extent of it (yet) sucks more. 🥲
So here’s a snippet from the moments in between getting injured and feeling sad about it. The moment between the two days of competition when I was just me and not an athlete. 🩷
You can feel all of it. You can be all of it. Or some of it. Or none of it. ✨
I can feel grateful for the wonderful things in my life and gutted that this is where I’m currently at. 💔
I can feel excited to get my pressing strength up, but sad that I packed my lifters away for the foreseeable. 😬
I can question my decision to compete injured, but be glad to know I tried (and bloody hell, did I try). 😅
It’s ok to live in the contradiction. It’s ok to not be able to make sense of things. 🙃
I like being me. I like being an athlete. I like that they co-exist. 🫶🏼
Don’t limit who you are by pre-conceived boundaries put there by people who don’t live in your head…or shouldn’t. 😘

This is the time of year our feeds get full of “before & after” collages. Ones that are usually linked to a coach or PT or nutritionist selling something to get you to sign up and try and shrink yourself.
I was guilty of that too, when I used to be so focused on making myself smaller.
Just a dose of my reality - 3 years apart. 10kg heavier. My then and now. Not before. Not after.
You don’t have to shrink yourself to be ok with who you are. You don’t have the shrink yourself to be accepting of your body. You also, don’t HAVE to LOVE your body…but it would be cool if we could.
I don’t always love my body, but I do appreciate it. I do accept it.

It’s easy to get swept up with things you’d change.
Goals for the future are great (head to yesterdays post if you want to have something to record your goals on!), but it’s SO important we take a moment to appreciate ourselves and where we are right now.
So while our thoughts launch into next year, take five minutes and record what your wins from the past 365 days have been.
They don’t have to be huge, tangible things. They can be “said no more frequently to things that don’t make me happy”, “was kinder to myself when I found things hard”, “trained with less intensity and more happiness”.
I’d love to see what your golden moments of 2022 were. 💕✨

Controversial tip: while making SMART goals is the popular way, I often find that less specific ones are more easily implemented in my life.
“Remind myself that I train for enjoyment” is often more effective than “train 3 x a week in a gym” because you’re then motivated by your reason and not feeling like a failure if you don’t stick to the specific goal.
Each to their own, always. If SMART goals are good for you! Set them!

My stomach…your uterus takes MONTHS to shrink back. There is literally an (empty) internal organ in that “jelly belly” and that weird feeling after your baby is born. 👩🍼🤱
Spot that big arch in my lower back? Our centre of gravity is so distorted because we’ve spent months growing a human and being used to carrying a massive weight on our front. 🤰🏼
The hip pop. Yep, the absolute necessity of all parents of young kids.

“I was recommended Frankii from a friend who had attended her classes.
I had just had a baby via C section and was getting married 7 months later! I got intouch with Frankii to ask for her help and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She made sure I didn't start anything until my body had recovered and we took it very slowly to start with so I didn't do any damage.
Although we took it slowly, I didn't feel like any sessions were wasted and I always felt like I had achieved something. Once I had built up my strength we added more weight and did more challenging excersizes but she always checked to make sure it wasn't too much and kept intouch to see how I was after every session.
On my wedding day I felt so confident and this was all down to Frankii, I couldn't have done it without her x”

This is Sue. Today she heads out to Italy to complete the Milan to Venice cycle for charity. 🚴🏼♀️
She has worked so hard. This event has been postponed 3 times since 2020 and while that could deter most, it’s spurred Sue on. 💁🏼♀️
In our time together she has increased her fitness, ironed out niggles, built up a huge amount of strength and increased her ability to manage her fatigue levels. All of this alongside working her business, being a mum, wife and then all the on the road cycling she has done. 🥰
I have no doubt that she will be phenomenal, she always is. Go out there and smash it Sue. I am so proud to be your friend and coach! ✨
