It’s nice watching prime time television and see something you fabricated, supplied and fixed a few years ago, it looks full size stair tower but it’s not that wide at all, the illusion on television makes it look so.

A different setting for a meeting yesterday on the River Foss in a boat, we have been asked to look at the feasibility of taking the bridge(which our company erected in 1931) out, repairing, repainting and then replacing it. A bit of a head scratcher as there are a lot of unknown variables that we need to assess prior to anything happening, but an interesting project to be involved in. The last photo shows the new Layerthorpe Premier Inn in the background that we did the steelwork for a few years ago. This is the site of the old York Power Station and the purpose of the bridge allegedly was easier access but it was according to hearsay an access for workers to get off site quicker for a cigarette rather than taking the long way round to save the power company money, we’re not sure about that though. Planned for Summer 2025 flood permitting.

On 8th September one of our directors Jon Newsome is doing the Great North Run, it’s only 11 weeks away, training hasn’t been going that well due to other parts of his body falling to pieces, if you would like to donate the link is below, thanks in advance, this is a very worthy cause and is very much in the media at the moment following the untimely death of Rugby League player Rob Burrow.

No rest for the wicked, second load of steel collected this morning being delivered to Worksop Galvanising, this is work for a new client eventually going to a project in Hartlepool.

All finished now at Keighley Fire Station for Birch. A lot of lifts in a small building footprint.

Just had a request today from gentleman who used to be our electrician, could we paint or offer a protective coating for the Flowers for the Fallen silhouettes they have had made. The best option is galvanising so we have arranged for them to be collected on Wednesday next week, returned Friday and to then go on display Sunday morning. It’s a privilege to support a society that shows appreciation for the people who made immense sacrifices so we could have our freedom.
