Just six weeks to go to our Artisan Market in aid of Helping Hands for Nepal

Come and join us on Saturday 15th June from 1100 to 4pm. We have a great day out for all the family where you can shop with over 50 local small businesses, sharing with you everything from Art to Woodwork, with some demonstrating their skills throughout the day.

Shop til you drop, have a massage, grab a facial, relax at the BBQ or bar while the children enjoy our traditional fairground rides and bouncy castles. Treat them to an ice cream or some face painting.

Bring your dog along to the dog show and explore the The Mile, Pocklington's new dog field.

Joining our face painter and bouncy castles for the children this year is a shooting gallery, hook a duck and traditional children's fairground rides.

Enjoy food from the Cafe, the BBQ, or Krazy Spuds and follow it up with a delicious gluten free cake or homemade brownie.

Also new this year we have demonstrations from local Artisan Makers, showing just how they make their products. Or treat yourself to a massage or a facial (pre-booked).

Is it me? Anyone else feeling buried right now? 💔Something no one talks about when owning a small business is the mental struggles faced daily. Showing up and trying your hardest everyday and not being seen. Making sacrifices in the hope that it will all be worth it, whist struggling to make ends meet. Being the first one up, the last to bed, the last to get paid. Feeling like you’re always letting someone down because you don’t have the energy to fight for your business daily and be a good friend at the same time. The personal battles you feel to weak to fight because every second of your day is worrying, how you’re going to survive another day in the world of a business owner. You’re wracked with guilt over the things you can’t provide your children because you’re in survival mode and struggling just to stay afloat. Trying to be so many things to so many people you forget who you are.
Burn out is real, but you still have to find the motivation to get up and fight another day. Because you have no choice.
I don’t just want my small business to survive, it has to! Being diagnosed with endometriosis in 2017 I was on the brink of loosing my job because of the days off due to this debilitating disease. My fear is I couldn’t work for anyone else, because women’s health isn’t supported in the workplace. I have no choice. This has to work! And with that comes huge pressure!

Please check in on your business owner friends. They may not be ok. But they are very good at putting on a brave face to the world for fear of more judgement! They are showing the world “I’m ok” but in my experience. They are not 💔
