How do you wear Customised Orthotics?

The first thing you should know about orthotics is DO NOT RUSH. Secondly, conditions that have taken years to develop will not disappear immediately.

Suggested wearing times:

📌 Day 1: Wear for 30mins to 1 hour
📌 Day 2: Wear for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening
📌 Day 3+: increase wearing time gradually over a period of 1-4 weeks

Begin wearing your orthotics in the morning and follow the guidelines.

👟👞🥿 Footwear & Insoles
The most important factor for the orthotics to function correctly is your footwear. Use common sense when choosing the type and style of your shoes. Please keep in mind that some shoes are not suitable to be worn with orthotics, they may be too narrow or too shallow.

To help with this we do recommend that you remove any extra padding, arch pads, heel padding, thick cushion liners etc from your footwear before inserting the orthotics.

As your body is re-aligned you may experience minor aches and pains in your back, hip, knee, ankle and foot during the break in period, this is not uncommon, which is why we recommend breaking them in gradually over 1 - 4 weeks.

We offer support during this break-in period if required.

How does an appointment work at the show/events:

Allow 5 mins for a quick chat to understand - allow 15 mins minimum to go through the process if interested in knowing more:

1) We discuss your conditions, your foot structure, how the customised orthotics work / support your foot structure / what to expect etc.

2) Then we complete a computerised gait analysis stood, and in motion.

3) Next we select a sample after checking your requirements / change as need so you try a sample that gives an 80% accuracy.

4) You walk a short distance in view of the stand so we can watch your movement.

- at this point you can FEEL the immediate support and difference - the 'words' make sense!

5) You decide without any pressure (we are not sales people) whether you would like to order or not.

Your 100% customised orthotics are made to the computer analysis taken on the day. Completed consultation details saved on file.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 'I’ve had my orthotics for over 3 months now and can safely say they are life changing. I had had varying treatments for plantar fasciitis with short term success and saw the Orthotic Works stand at a show in March 2024. After gait analysis and a quick trial of some “standard” orthotics at the show, I ordered a pair, hoping they would give me some relief.

My expectations have been outweighed 200% - I went from hobbling around walking my dog ever shortening walks and now can happily walk as far as he wants to - up to 18,000 steps in one day without a murmur of pain the following day! I was lucky if I made it to 5,000 steps in March. I can even wear shoes (that aren’t suitable for the orthotics) for periods of time and the inserts are now residing between my walking boots and trainers.

Day 4... Here we go!

💬'After sustaining a foot injury it left me unable to weight bear through the metatarsal section of my left foot.

After 6 months of wearing a rocker-type shoe and having been an extremely active person prior to the injury I was extremely frustrated and my physiotherapist recommended The Orthotic Works.
