Preston Baker’s New Homes, Land and Planning Director James Baker and close friend Mike Harding take action to help Ukrainians

James and Mike have been moved to help Ukrainians with trips to take aid items and transport refugees fleeing the conflict.
They intend to do regular trips and are collecting items and fundraising for future trips. They have so far raised over £7,000, made two 4,000-mile round aid missions, and successfully transported 14 refugees and three pets to awaiting sponsors.

UK house prices reach record high as homes sell quicker than ever

Month-on-month prices are up by an average of 1.6% (+£5,537), and over the last three months by a total of £19,082. This is the biggest three-month price rise ever recorded.

Hard work pays dividend for Preston Baker’s Carrie Howcroft

Congratulations go to Preston Baker’s Carrie Howcroft, who joined Preston Baker Estate and Letting Agents as an apprentice at the age of 17 over eight years ago, and after years of study alongside working has gained five qualifications, and has just passed her AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.

The current state of the UK housing market, mirrored across Yorkshire, is highlighted in Propertymark’s February Housing Market Report which shows that for each available property for sale, there are 26 potential buyers.

With a shortage of houses on the market and high buyer demand, a large proportion of houses are selling for over asking price, reports Propertymark.

UK house prices hit record levels in January 2022, reports mortgage lender Halifax.

In January, the average UK house price on Halifax’s index was up to a new record high of £276,759. That is around £24,500 more than this time last year, and £37,500 more than two years ago, prior to the pandemic.
