Place your left hand on your left knee, with the palm facing upward, in the Chin Mudra (index finger and thumb touching). Use your right hand to bring your index and middle fingers to your palm, leaving your ring and little fingers extended. Cover up the right nostril with the thumb breathe out through the left for 8 and then in for 4 , Change and cover up your left nostril as you breathe out for 8 and in for 4 Repeat for 5 to 10 min 🍀Alternative nostril breathing- Anulom Vilom Pranayama, is a breathing technique used in yoga and meditation practices. This technique involves breathing through one nostril at a time by alternating between the right and left nostrils. 🍀The balancing effects of alternative nostril breathing on the right and left hemispheres of the brain are believed to help harmonize and synchronize brain activity. It is thought to have a calming and balancing effect on the mind, promoting mental clarity, focus, and relaxation. 🍀By alternating the flow of air through the nostrils, alternative nostril breathing helps to balance the flow of energy (prana) in the body, which can help harmonize the functioning of the brain’s hemispheres. The right nostril is associated with the left hemisphere of the brain, which is linked to logical thinking and analytical abilities. The left nostril is associated with the right hemisphere of the brain, which is associated with creativity and intuition. 🍀Aternative nostril breathing, helps create a sense of balance and calm, in the mind and emotions. Downward dog pose/ Adho Mukha Svanasan From child’s pose tuck the toes under, without moving the hands or feet. Exhale, bring the hips up as high as you possibly can. Push the heels towards the floor. Hands are even and flat on the ground. head between arms, look at your feet. Push off your hands and bring the shoulders blades down an towards each other , relax your neck and your brain. A downward dog stretches and widens the hamstrings stretches out the calf and the Achilles heel and as your heart is lower than your head, It brings blood supply and oxygen to the brain. Improves the blood flow through your body Downward dog stretches and helps to relieve tension from neck and back This Yoga Asanas strengthens your core, therefore reducing weight and shedding fat Downward Dog is an inversion and inversions are a powerful yoga practice that can help to reduce stress. It can be soothing balancing and slow the chatter of the mind. It’s a powerful and strengthening pose, which is so good for the spine. It makes you feel invigorated and alive. It’s a gentle inversion preparing your body to go upside down. The forward bending position may allow heart rate to slow down. ⭐️Yoga, is a beautiful way to improve flexibility and strength, de-clutter the mind, become more focused, relaxed, find inner balance, let go of the past and breathe. Each Yoga class will begin very relaxed and slow. Focusing on the breath, we will take the time to let go of the day and unwind. Slowly warming up with some gentle movement which will build up to some strengthening flowing stretches. Once we warm up we will go deeper. Building strength and focus but staying relaxed and aware of the breath and each movement. Toward the end, there will be pranayama (breathing technics) and guided visualisation. This leads to a deep relaxation to end the session . One of my students said to me the other day “I bet your house is calm and serene all the time, isn’t it?’ I think she just walked out of chaos I laughed because he he.... I have two teenage boys, a cat, a dog and a husband so noooooo…… It’s not ‘calm’ all the time Then I joked “well when they’re out, yes its calm” I hear it all the time Yoga teacher are: clean cut, calm all the time, goody, goody, healthy, serene, don’t drink, very spiritual, very thin, very flexible, sitting around drinking herbal tea all day long. What a load of b.o.ll.o.c.k.s Most Yoga teachers I know, they’re nothing like that. Their just like everyone else… In that respect, As Yogi’s we still have stuff to ‘chuck in the’ F.u.c.kit Bucket’ so to say Only we, have the tools we need to live a happier, calmer life. I have my own stuff, to work through just like everyone else. I like doing crazy stuff, I get very excited, over excited, I like to take risks, I like to dance all night, I like to drink glasses of wine, my house isn’t tidy all the time, & sometimes there’s shouting. It’s all about moderation... it’s about balancing these energy’s In my life, yoga helps me balance the ups and downs, A yoga teacher will be calm when their teaching, Yes, if a yoga teacher is a professional, they will have been trained not to bring their stuff to class. Because, it’s not about them, it’s about their students, It’s about creating a calm and spacious place for their students to come and enjoy that time out. I didn’t think I could do this so I’ve never tried until now… I didn’t think I could be a yoga teacher ether many years ago before I ‘was one’.. really , I didn’t think I’d ever have the confidence to do such a thing ..but i wanted to , I wanted to be soooo bad … so I challenged myself .. 🤩 Lack of confidence is a killer of joy 🤩 I know coz i’ve felt it often throughout my life …. Most of us will feel this at some point in our lives. 🤸🏻♀️ 3 things you can do to help overcome lack of confidence.. . ⭐️1 ‘Except yourself for who you are’ .. this is a big one and can be difficult when we have developmental patterns that we learnt from childhood. Talking about it can help and letting your emotions out . . ⭐️2 ‘Avoid Comparison’ again everyone does it, and it can be hard to achieve , but try appreciating your ‘own’ achievement . Stop thinking so much & get to know yourself a little better. ⭐️3 ‘Make changes in your life.’ Imagine you where just about to learn to drive .. you got in the car for the first time .. this big ‘Tin’ of a thing and you had to drive from a to b with no practice or guide.. you’d be scared… right ? . . But what if you learnt all the parts and noticed all the hazards.. and practiced .. Well before long you’d be confident and doing all the things like second nature.. 🤸🏻♀️ . I’ve been quiet on here, I’ve been taking some time out. I’ve been on the most amazing Journey this last week with “Norman Blare on his Yin Yoga Teacher training” diving deep into the the joys of Yin. I’ve come away with a sense of softness and openness and the feeling of connectedness with all of life, the systems within our body’s and the treads that connected us all. I’ve meet some amazing people, some I really feel like I’ve meet before. I’ve enjoyed all the little connections and story’s and poems and I’m very grateful for the teachings. I’m looking forward to integrating some of theses teachings into my regulars class schedule but most of all I can’t wait to bring you all some Yin workshops soon. Do you sometime feel flat , low energy, i little bit down? . Oh Yeah, I’ve had those days too. . Things can get TOUGH sometimes. But here’s what I do when it ALL gets too much ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍 1. Go for a walk in the fresh air. 2. Meditate 3. Do some Yoga. 4. Hang out with my besties 5.Take 15 minutes to Have a good cry 😢 6. Have a hot bath with a few drops of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil. Go for a sauna and swim Or , just go to sleep for a while. . I normally wake up feeling like doing 1 or more of the above. . What do you do when you feel like giving up? .
