"The Lady in The Van is an adaptation of the play of the same name written by Alan Bennett. Loosely based on his unusual relationship with Mary Shepherd a homeless van dweller who arrives out of the blue, and parks in his street before eventually relocating to his drive, where she remained for the next 15 years. Whilst they were never close their relationship was based on mutual respect and Alanβs generosity allowing her to use his facilities. In time Alan realises there is more to Mary than meets the eye."
