The Greens in Guildhall ward
The Green Party has 4 councillors on City of York Council. Denise Craghill (pictured above right with June Tranmer, ward coordinator) was elected as the first Green Party councillor for Guildhall ward in May 2015, when the Greens doubled their numbers on the Council from 2 to 4. Guildhall ward has 3 councillors (the other two are currently Labour).
The ward stretches from the Nestle South site between Haxby and Wiggington roads in the north down to the River Ouse between the Marygate area and Tower Gardens, taking in most of the city centre, part of Huntington Road, Monkgate, Aldwark, the Walmgate Navigation area and terraced streets off Lawrence Street.
Denise has been working on a huge range of issues since being elected, including supporting residents associations, helping residents with planning and licensing issues, dealing with individual casework and working to tackle bad air quality and promote cleaner, greener neighbourhoods, with a strong sense of community.
This page aims to bring together news and information about the ward, what is going on there and what your Green Party team is doing - with a few items on wider issue that affect all of York - and even the world beyond!
