For a lot of our families there will be massive changes this week, with our older ones heading back to school or some of our Toddler Sense Graduates heading off to school for the first time.
Tod and I would like to wish them (and their grown ups! 😪) lots of luck and hope it's not too tricky for anyone! Don't forget your tissues in your handbag for after drop-off!
There is lots of excitement in our house and my youngest even had tea in her new PE kit in preparation! ( It is now covered in gravy so thankfully we don't need it for tomorrow! 😂)
She is so excited to "play with all her friends that she hasn't met yet"!. This is a wonderful outlook on life and we must all try and see the positives in the new situations.
I'm sure your new teachers will love you as much as I did in our classes. 💚💛
Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀🍀
So after 6 weeks of not working over the Summer Holidays, I have eased myself back into working with doing 2 birthday parties and a fundraiser for the Special Care Baby Unit this weekend!
So nice to see so many new faces and familiar faces at the parties at the SCBU event. Also extra special to celebrate the birthday of one of my toddlers who has graduated and starts school this week.
Plus Big Tod made an appearance and we both put on our dancing shoes despite the wet weather! I now have a kitchen full of drying Parachute and Tod costumes ( see photos!) ! 🙈
Thanks to for creating this. Lots of amazing opportunities for our little ones.

Thank you to our amazing customers for all your lovely reviews. I thought I'd share this one as it gives you an idea if what our classes are like if you are looking to join us in September.
Classes are filling up fast so don't delay.
So sorry if I have been a little quiet on social media, but I've stepped away from work a little to have some family time on 'holiday'! A week in Paris with the Olympics and Disney was far from relaxing but we've had an amazing time! 🥇🥈🥉
Sincere apologies if it has taken longer for me to get back to queries than usual!
Thank you so much to all the families for my lovely cards, presents and flowers! I've also spent the day wearing a homemade Toddler Sense bracelet! Such a lovely touch too!
I feel like a 'real teacher' at the end of term, but also feel honoured. It's such a privilege being part of the toddlers' lives. I have the best job in the world, but just hate the goodbyes!! 😭
And that's a wrap for the Summer Term! Thank you to all our amazing families who have joined us this term. We had lots of fun at the Toddler Sense Summer Fayre!
It was also an emotional week as we said goodbye to lots of families as their time at Toddler Sense comes to an end. It is sad when each and every toddler leaves my classes and I always try to remain professional and not get upset (but it doesn't always work!)😭.
A few lasting memories from the toddlers who left this week:
💛 Some of these toddlers were actually born in lock down and I met them on Zoom during Baby Sensory classes as we muddled through having a newborn in lock down together
💙One grandma has been coming for 10 years in total with different grandchildren. She will be lost on a Thursday morning now! 💛 Some families have been coming with their older siblings before they were officially old enough for Toddler Sense so I've known them from being babies.
💙 Some of these toddlers survived the craziness of one way systems at Toddler Sense when we all started to get back to 'normal' after lock down!
💛I have helped these toddlers celebrate their birthday parties and had the opportunity to meet their wider family and friends.
It has been a great pleasure to be part of these children's lives and I hope they will have some amazing memories from their Toddler Sense journey. It is a delight to see them head off to school with such confidence and their teachers are very lucky to have them.
Thank you once again and good luck for your next chapter.
Summer Holiday Planning
I have had a few conversations with parents this week about planning the summer holidays. It's really useful for toddlers (and grown ups!) to see a visual of the 6 weeks ahead. It also helps those heading off to school to see how many days until they start Reception, as September seems like a long way off when they have no concept of time!
I find the toddlers also like having a choice to do on the free days, but give them a list to choose from or else you'll end up at Creepy Crawlies every day for 6 weeks if you let them choose! 😂
Heres what I have done for this year. I decided to have a play on Canva as I normally do a hand written one! However I sent it to my husband to print and it has come home in A1 size! I think I need to keep practising with Canva! Now to find somewhere to put it up! 🙈
Do any of you have any tips that work well?
Do you and your toddler love what we do? Could you spare a couple of minutes to write a review and share your thoughts with others looking for Toddler Classes in York?
As a small business, reviews are so important to us, so if you could write just a couple of sentences as a Google Review, it would mean the world to me.
Here's the link to make it nice and easy: https://g.page/r/CdJo3gjlmMMSEBM/review
Thank you so much in advance. 😀
The summer holidays are here but it's not too early to think about September plans!

Roll up, roll up, its our annual Summer Fair in our sessions this week! We invite you to join us at this good old-fashioned family event. You'll have tons of fun getting crafty, playing games, and maypole dancing!
Just a reminder that this is our final week of classes before the summer holidays! Look forward to seeing our Monday Toddlers tomorrow for lot of end of term fun!
Superheros week! 🦸
We welcomed toddlers dressed as the Hulk, Buzz Lightyear, Ghost Spidey, Spiderman, Batman/ Batgirl and Strawberry Girl to classes this week!!
We also welcomed a grandma from China, a toddler visiting from Hong Kong and lots of other dads and grandparents who have managed to join us this week. It is a pleasure meeting lots of different family members and sharing the Toddler Sense experience /craziness with them!
Please let me know if you have any photos you are willing to share as I failed miserably this week.
Gearing up to say a lot of goodbyes next week as some toddlers will be leaving for school and pre-school. I had better pack the tissues! 😭😭😭
Just thought I'd share this as water safety is really important with toddlers especially at this time of year with summer holidays approaching!
What colour is your child's swimwear and can they be seen easily?!
Claim free safer swimwear and discounted swim lesson 🔗 https://www.onthebeach.co.uk/swimwear-safety
I have sent off for the free swimwear and it's arrived today. Hopefully it's very visible. Let me know if you sign up too! 😀
Retailers continue to sell dangerous, unseeable swimwear to children. If they’re not going to make a difference, then we are.
From today we’re giving away thousands of FREE, safer swimwear to children and giving them money off their next visit to the swimming baths.
We’re doing everything we can, now we’re calling on Keir Starmer and his new government to make immediate legislation changes before the summer holidays 🙏🩳🩱
I have an extra passenger in the car with me this week! I think I'll make sure he wears a seat belt!! 🦸
Just incase you needed a reminder that it's our Superhero week!! 😂
Yee-ha!! Our Toddlers made great cowboys and cow girls this week! Lots of imaginative play, dressing up, instruments, story telling, "lasso-ing" and horse riding!!
Plus I had a bit of horse riding practice too! 🤠🐎🐴

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Please be reminded that there are NO classes in Haxby tomorrow due to the Memorial Hall being used as elections! I'm really sorry but despite my best negotiating skills, I couldn't quite convince them that Toddler Sense classes were more important than the elections! 😃
Therefore, we are moving to Melodie Park for the classes tomorrow. An email was sent on Monday night to all Thursday customers to let them know.
Class times will stay the same and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at Melodie Park for our Yee-ha week. 🤠🤠🤠🤠
Does your toddler love our Tod mascots? Would they like to have their own that they can take on adventures over the Summer? They're only £12.99 so if you would like one, let me know and I can bring them before the end of term!
The last one I sold has definitely enjoyed all his extra cuddles!! 🤗
There are some downsides to the elections this week as I am evicted from my usual Thursday venue! However it does mean that I have the rare opportunity to leave all my equipment at Melodie's ready for Thursdays classes! This saved a few dozen trips to my trailer, but tested my stacking skills instead! It felt like a game of Jenga on my own!! Only a few horses fell!
I took a photo of all the equipment so that you get to see what it looks like when it's all piled up!
Turns out there's quite a lot of stuff that I move around each day!! Can you spot all 20 Rody horses?!
Last week we sailed the Seven Seas in search of Treasure with our Pirate theme!
I was so impressed at all the outfits as well as the imagination as we hunted for treasure. Some of my favourite moments were when we revealed the jewels in the treasure chest and saw the delight in the children's faces! 😲Also when one toddler brought in his own treasure map from home to help us fine the treasure!
Another memorable moment was when a toddler requested a Toddler Sense sticker to take home for their newborn baby sister who had been born that morning! 😍
The final numbers are in and we cannot believe it. We have helped to raise £518,303 for Tommy's charity
We have been blown away by everyone getting involved including all the Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense families across the UK!
Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts.
That money could fund Tommy’s pregnancy information and support service for over a year. Providing free expert advice, support and reassurance to thousands of people planning for or worried about pregnancy. Including vital support through complications and baby loss and the free helpline service run by Tommy’s midwives.
Thank you! 👏
The weather is glorious this week, so don't forget your socks please if you're wearing flip-flops!

PLUS HAVING LOTS OF FUN!
I know so many families are loving finding the matching clothes for the themes this half term. There is obviously no pressure at all, but if you have a suitable outfit (and it's clean!), you might as well put it on!
This week we are heading on a Pirate Adventure hunting for some treasure!!! Think pirate costumes, nautical stripes or sea creatures if that helps.
Shiver Me Timbers!!!
My pirate friend can't wait to meet you all, even if he looks a little grumpy! 😂
So I might have been on a Safari all week at work. However it looked very different to the real safari I went on a few (well maybe a lot of!) years ago!!!
As a graduate, I was unlucky enough to be made redundant before I even started my Graduate job. Not ideal, but it did mean I had the opportunity to go on safari. Little did I know I'd be doing the Toddler Sense version some years later!!!
Who knows which of our Toddlers will be heading in a real safari in a few years time?!!!
Tod is very excited to head on an Animal Safari this week!! Which animals do you think we'll find? 🐵🦍🐯🦓🦁🐘🦜🐸
(This was his Safari truck from lock down so it won't quite look like this tomorrow, just to manage expectations!)
Can't wait to see you all for some exciting animal fun and adventures!
Look at the delight on this little one's face! I love seeing the Toddler's reactions every week!
It is amazing to see the increase in confidence as children attend each week! For some of the younger children it might be an attempt to come and collect the props on their own if they're starting to feel brave, yet for the older ones they start to feel comfortable to come and be my 'assistants' at the front!
In all cases, I love being part of your toddlers development! 😍
