Nedrema wooded meadow, Estonia, the largest remaining wooded meadow in Europe. It features lady's slipper orchids - one of the rarest plants in Britain, thriving in a woodmeadow surrounded by cow-wheats, Lily of the valley, meadowsweet and dropwort, alongside other British rarities like bird's nest orchid and fly orchid.

The great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) is a protected species which breed in ponds, feed on invertebrates in woodland and grassland habitats. So it is no surprise that they have resided at Three Hagges Woodmeadow each year. Great crested newts are easily recognisable from their warty, textured skin and bright orange underbelly with dark spots (forming a unique pattern which can be used to ID individuals). The mosaic of woodland, scrub, pond and wildflower meadow at Three Hagges Woodmeadow provides a valuable habitat for many creatures. One being the Marbled Orb-Weaver Spider, often found in woodland or wet heathland. They construct orb-webs, which have sticky threads arranged spirally to restrain prey and non-sticky supporting threads which absorb movement and add strength. Here is a busy Marbled Orb-Weaver Spider in action! #wildlife #woodmeadow
