Not Always Ignorant
When persons are spoken to on the subject of health, they often say, âWe know a great deal better than we do.â They do not realize that they are accountable for every ray of light in regard to their physical well-being, and that their every habit is open to the inspection of God. Physical life is not to be treated in a haphazard manner. Every organ, every fiber of the being, is to be sacredly guarded from harmful practices.âTestimonies for the Church 6:372, 1900
Responsibility for Light
At the time the light of health reform dawned upon us, and since that time, the questions have come home every day, âAm I practicing true temperance in all things?â âIs my diet such as will bring me in a position where I can accomplish the greatest amount of good?â If we cannot answer these questions in the affirmative, we stand condemned before God, for He will hold us all responsible for the light which has shone upon our path. The time of ignorance God winked at, but as fast as light shines upon us, He requires us to change our health-destroying habits, and place ourselves in a right relation to physical laws.âGood Health, November, 1880.
Health is a treasure. Of all temporal possessions it is the most precious. Wealth, learning, and honor are dearly purchased at the loss of the vigor of health. None of these can secure happiness, if health is lacking. It is a terrible sin to abuse the health that God has given us; such abuses enfeeble us for life, and make us losers, even if we gain by such means any amount of education.âChristian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 150, 1890
[Examples of Suffering Due to Disregarding Lightâ119, 204]
God has bountifully provided for the sustenance and happiness of all His creatures; if His laws were never violated, if all acted in harmony with the divine will, health, peace, and happiness, instead of misery and continual evil, would be the result.âChristian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 151, 1890
A careful conformity to the laws God has implanted in our being, will ensure health, and there will not be a breaking down of the constitution.âHealth Reformer, August, 1866.
[Health Reform the Lord's Means of Lessening Sufferingâ788]
For the Glory of God
1. Only one lease of life is granted us; and the inquiry with every
one should be, âHow can I invest my powers so that they may yield
the greatest profit? How can I do most for the glory of God and the
benefit of my fellow men?â For life is valuable only as it is used for
the attainment of these ends.
Our first duty toward God and our fellow beings is that of self development. Every faculty with which the Creator has endowed
us should be cultivated to the highest degree of perfection, that we
may be able to do the greatest amount of good of which we are
capable. Hence that time is spent to good account which is used in
the establishment and preservation of physical and mental health.
We cannot afford to dwarf or cripple any function of body or mind.
As surely as we do this, we must suffer the consequences.
Choice of Life or Death
Every man has the opportunity, to a great extent, of making
himself whatever he chooses to be. The blessings of this life, and
also of the immortal state, are within his reach. He may build up a
character of solid worth, gaining new strength at every step. He may advance daily in knowledge and wisdom, conscious of new delights as he progresses, adding virtue to virtue, grace to grace. His faculties will improve by use; the more wisdom he gains, the greater will be his capacity for acquiring. His intelligence, knowledge, and virtue will thus develop into greater strength and more perfect symmetry.
On the other hand, he may allow his powers to rust out for
want of use, or to be perverted through evil habits, lack of self control, or moral and religious stamina. His course then tends
[16] downward; he is disobedient to the law of God and to the laws
of health. Appetite conquers him; inclination carries him away.
It is easier for him to allow the powers of evil, which are always
active, to drag him backward, than to struggle against them, and go forward. Dissipation, disease, and death follow. This is the
history of many lives that might have been useful in the cause of
God and humanity.â[Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 41,
42] Counsels on Health, 107, 108, 1890

Storm-proofed for life
Tuesday 4th June 2024
âWhy do you call me, âLord, Lord,â and do not do what I say?â Luke 6:46 NIV
Remember the words of the old Sunday school song, âThe wise man built his house upon the Rock ⊠The foolish man built his house upon the sandâ? The storm hit both houses leaving only the wise manâs house standing. Jesus wasnât simply recommending the virtues of wisdom over foolishness. The truth is, weâre all wise at times and foolish at others. And He wasnât saying the house that survived the storm was a believerâs house while the house that perished belonged to an unbeliever. Neither was He implying that the church attenderâs house withstood the storm while the non-attenderâs house collapsed. His point was simpler â and more compelling.
When things are at their worst and we are pushed to the wall, when we doubt our chances of survival, when we have used up our last ounce of resistance, itâs not our wisdom, salvation, or church attendance that gets us through the storm. While these are crucially important aspects of Christian life for which we praise God, many wise, faithful believers go under in lifeâs storms: an abusive relationship, a financial collapse, an unfaithful partner, the loss or illness of a child, a mental or physical disability.
Jesusâ point wasnât even a plea for increased knowledge of His Word. Both homeowners understood His Word, but simply saying, âLord, I totally agree with you,â wonât get you through the storm. The point Jesus was making here is that doing what you hear Him say is what will get you through the storm! God has bound Himself to honour His Word, and your obedience aligns you with it and activates His power on your behalf.

Christ is coming back to this world as a matter of fact according to prophecy this world is heading to the time of trouble such the world has never seen.
A time is coming when the World will be divided into two, the disobedient and the obedient. Those in churches defending the world will move out and join the rest of world and those in the world defending truth, will come and join the church. Those in the world side will be many as compared to those defending truth.
Fellows the way of salvation is quite difficult for a disobedient heart, but it is easier for those who are ready, i beseech you to be the obedient side. The current ongoings, are just preparations for that time to arrive. When it will come those in disobedience will enjoy peace for a short time while those in obedience side will as well face persecution for a short time then destruction will befall the disobedient from heaven as the obedient will be take away into heaven.
Let us prepare ourselves.

Simplifying doesnât have to be complicated
Sunday 10th September 2023
âDo not worry about your life.â Matthew 6:25 NKJV
We tend to complicate our lives unnecessarily. Jesus said: âDo not worry about your life ⊠the birds ⊠neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds themâ (Matthew 6:25-26 NKJV). Charlie Shedd pastored a large church with many demands. He and his wife created this simplicity list:
Make sure you need to simplify. Your problem may be inertia ⊠because you arenât doing enough. Selfishness never simplifies â it complicates.
Remember why youâre here. Put Godâs will first. You unclutter by having a pivotal purpose on which your life swings.
Drop useless goals. Donât wear yourself out on meaningless pursuits. You frustrate yourself by dedicating your life to the unimportant.
You canât do everything. If God intended you to be six people, heâd have divided you up! Leave some âworld buildingâ to others.
Live one day at a time. Plan and hope for the futureâbut donât live there. âEach day has enough trouble of its ownâ (Matthew 6:34 NIV). Live well today, and tomorrowâs strength will come.
Wherever you areâbe there. Stop thinking happiness comes at five oâclock, or at the eveningâs party, or when you fall asleep. Live in the present.
Develop a hobby. A change of activity keeps you fresh. Time spent playing is time well spent.
You canât slow the world, so slow yourself. Learn to gear down. When you canât alter the pace, retire to the inner sanctuary and alter yourself.
Adopt the perfect pattern: Christ, whose life cut history squarely in two. Follow Him as He lives a mighty life in quiet confidence. âLet this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesusâ (Philippians 2:5 KJV)
Have a blessed day! đ

Godâs amazing love for you
Thursday 31st August 2023
âMay you have the power to understand ⊠how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.â Ephesians 3:18 NLT
Paul writes: âI pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into Godâs love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand ⊠how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete âŠâ (Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT). In spite of our best intentions, we still sin. As a result, we feel bad about ourselves. And Satan uses our feelings of guilt and condemnation to make us doubt Godâs love for us. But if God loved you enough to send His Son to die on your behalf while you were a full-blown sinner, you can be sure He wonât change His mind about you when youâre His redeemed but struggling child. Feeling bad about sin is actually proof that you truly are Godâs child. When you were born again, you became a regenerated spirit living in an unregenerated body. So when you permit sin to enter your life, your regenerated spirit rises up and says, âGet that out of here. Itâs incompatible with who I am.â
Itâs not that God doesnât love you when you sin, but that sin is an unwelcome guest that makes you feel bad about yourself and robs you of confidence towards God. So if you have sinned, repent, receive Godâs forgiveness, and move forwards stronger and wiser.
Have a blessed day! đ
