The last year have been as strange, challenging and hopeful for us as they have the world over. In January 2020 the „Young Musicians International Association of Georgia” provided the last Winter Marathon Festival before Covid-19 caused our lifes, then in July The Georgian Youth Orchestra had to stop playing as a group due to COVID-19. Our renowned project MISA was also not able to start.
We knew that it was unsafe to meet, but also that the outlet of music and the familiar support of the “MISA” community could help our students and their families during this difficult time. Our teaching team acted quickly, preparing material to keep our students playing through lockdown and to move our summer term online.
Thanks to the "Creative Europe" programs and European Union support we have been able to continue providing the high-quality teaching we are renowned for.
We are also thrilled to share that after submitting auditions during lockdown, three more "MISA"-s Soloists were awarded places at the different International Competitions. We are proud to have been able to offer every Georgian Orchestra Academy student the chance to continue their lessons, and were blown away by what many of them achieved. Keeping our kids playing through lockdown was a true team effort by the whole YMIAG community, made possible by our supporters.

We waited that moment, when it is safe to meet again as an orchestra. It costs an average of $800-1,000 per child to deliver our projects each year. As a charity which is solely funded by donations, we are particularly reliant on the generosity of our regular supporters. On behalf of everyone at YMIAG, thank you for your support.

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for being there these past two ground-breaking weeks of on-line learning! 🎼🎶🎹🎻🥁🎺🎸📯🎷🎶🎵
Attendance is great, the work is being done, and the kids are joyful.
The learning curve has been steep for the teachers and finding the best ways to deliver lessons has been challenging along with an enormous amount of preparation. Week-two was less hectic than week-one for sure. As we are all finding our own work/life balance, we hope that this week will just feel like a normal week!
