*DANDAWA ACADEMY PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON DR HAJIA KHATUMI MAHAMA*

Dandawa Academy, a Professional Organization and Group affiliated to the Dendi Community in Ghana has on Saturday July 22, 2023 paid a courtesy call on the renowned Educationist Dr Hajia Khatumi Mahama at her residence in Accra.

Leading a 7 member delegation, the President of Dandawa Academy, Abdul Karim Mohammed stated that the purpose.of the visit is to officially introduce the Academy, its vision and achievements so far to Dr Hajia.

He indicated that the Academy is made of Dendi professionals to champion professional development, networking, and education of the Dendi people in Ghana.

He added that, the Academy has through membership brought most Dendi professionals together for networking and professional development.

The Academy annually organizes a Guidance and Counseling session for candidates sitting for BECE and WASSCE, exams at an event.

The Academy is also in the process of documenting the history of the Dendi people in Ghana through its Homeland Project. The Academy has visited Tinkong, Asamankese and Nafiu. It intends visiting Kumawu, Mamponteng, Worawora and other parts of the country to complete the project.

At the meeting, the President and other members present paid a glowing tribute to the contribution of Dr Hajia Khatumi to Ghana's Educational system, Zongo/Muslim development, Girl child education and empowerment. Such contributions included her appointment and achievement as District Director of Education for Akropong, the foundation of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Ghana (FOMWAG), Association of Muslim Professionals Ghana (AMPROG), the advocacy for the Muslim Girl Child Education, Advocacy for the wearing of Hijabs in public institutions in Ghana and many others.

In welcoming the delegation, Dr Hajia Khatumi expressed profound gratitude to the Academy for the visit.

She commended the leadership and founding members of the Academy for the vision to spearhead professional development, networking and education among the Dendi Community.

She was delighted that the Academy is in the process of documenting Dendi history in Ghana.
She congratulated the leadership of the Academy for the acceptance and sacrifice to lead such an agenda.

She prayed for more wisdom, patience and health for the leadership to be able to drive the vision of the Academy successfully.

*A BRIEF BIO OF DR HAJIA KHATUMI MAHAMA*

Dr. Hajia Khatumi Mahatma, a Dendi, is an Educationist who holds a PhD from the Birmingham University UK.

Dr Hajia Khatumi is famous for her enormous contribution and advocacy in Ghana's educational system.

She has served as the District Director of Education for Akropong in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Dr Hajia Khatumi is the Founder and Former President of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Ghana (FOMWAG) and a Founding member of the Association of Muslim Professionals, Ghana (AMPROG)

Dr Hajia Khatumi was a key advocate for Wholistic Education among the Muslim Community especially education for the Muslim Girl Child.

Dr Hajia Khatumi also advocated for the wearing of Hijab by the female Muslim in Public Institutions especially in Schools and workplaces .

On the 30th April, 2022 the executives had an iftar the the Nafiu community and also met with it's opinion leaders of the community as part of our formalization Tour.
We hope to reach more communities soon.
