Hi Ghana climbers. Anyone interested in helping with the installation of ziplines in the mountains of Kwahu where the paragliding festival is held?

Hey Ghana climbers, most of the admins for this page aren't in Ghana anymore. Are one of you who is still actively living in and climbing in Ghana interested in being added as an admin to monitor and promote this page? Anthony? Ziad? Guido?

FYI Ghana Rock Climbers, 2 new routes have been bolted in the last month at Krobo and 4 at Asubone (thanks Nathan!). At Krobo, we have one new route just to the left of T-Rex, donated by Michael Woon. We are still waiting on the name but I think the grade is around a 5.10c. To the left of the corner between Birthday Crack and the T-Rex wall is a new sustained 27 meter climb that probably goes at 5.11c/d. I'm bolting a new route between the two this weekend, courtesy of donation by Susan Gille. There are 4 more sport routes at Krobo planned, 2 of which are on a newly cleared wall, which will bring us to ~20 trad and sport routes in the main climbing area. Also working on getting a 6-8 multi-pitch sport route up at Adaklu but are currently dealing with trail logistics. You donate funds or equipment to develop a route, you name it! Last weekend, a three person team (Nathan Heston, Jeremy Susskind, and Kelly Baker) made the first (that we are aware of) attempt for a technical rock route on Mt. Adaklu. We are estimating the cliffs are 150-170 meters tall, probably 0.5 km long and mostly hard granite rock. The potential for both traditional and sport route development was way better than any of us had hoped. Definitely best rock I've climbed in Ghana so far. Due to the time consumed by the five hour bushwacking approach, and 3 hour hair-raising jungle descent, we only had time to climb the bottom third of the route (5.7-5.8) we had selected. Nathan and I are planning to go back to finish that crack soon and to perhaps bolt a multi-pitch face route to the right. An approach trail is going to be absolutely essential for making climbing on this cliff possible and safe. We have started negotiations with the two local chiefs about constructing a more direct trail to the base of the cliff. No price agreed upon yet, but it will be a lot of work for them since the trail would have to wind it's way up maybe 300 meters of mountain side just to get the base of the cliff. It would be useful to know how many people would be interested in chipping in funds for trail development, or for the equipment that we would need to bolt some of the crack-less faces. Kelly

Adaklu is the next large hill after Krobo in a line of hills that starts with Shai Hills and stretches N-S to the Togo border.
