My farm is avoids the use of antibiotics to fatten broilers. It’s solely feed , ginger and garlic.

MYTH: broilers are genetically modified chickens and are fed hormones to speed up their growth. Broilers are lazy and are not strong and hardy breed of chickens

FACT: Broilers are products of careful natural selection of parent stock chickens. They are NOT genetically modified. They are products of cross breeding of different traditional chicken breeds to produce chickens with special traits. Broilers are one of the most active chicken breeds out there. They are very resistant to cold and they have a low mortality ratio given the right conditions. Because of their active nature broilers are never docile, they are always on the move and this is one of the traits that help them eat more than the average chicken thereby grow faster. They have a large gizzard and their stomachs produce more enzymes and yeast microbes that are able to digest feed faster. They are able to convert feed into muscle faster attaining a market weight of 2 kg in 6 weeks. Hormones have never been using in the poultry industry. Per cost of feeding chickens hormones or steroids the cost at the end will be more than the cost one chicken per hormone or steroids given. Broiler feeds are specially formulated with a high protein ratio mostly 20% to 24%.
There are several broiler breeds. The Cornish X , Ross, and Cobb variants. Some of these are inter breed to give newer strains like the UKs RossCobbs.
