i. Smocks for Fortification: Do you know that there are some smock colors that you can’t wear in the North (Ghana) and not be tried? ...You know what I mean…your potency will be tested.
I know you’re shocked 😳 but hold on and let me break it down for you🌝
••
Pure white woven smocks and off-white smocks are often used for fortification such as “gun protection” …etc.
••
Usually, when you go for a durbar or chieftaincy-related ceremony in the North, those who often engage in some kind of spiritual activities wear these white or off-white smocks.
••
On our visit to the North to scout for Northern fashion, we were told that such smocks are woven normally like any other smock but, it is what it’s being used for after it has been bought that brings the whole difference.
••
Those who wish to fortify themselves spiritually, take these smocks to spiritualists for rites to be performed.
••
After the fortification, some wear theirs publicly but never wash them while others, keep theirs indoors. The ones kept indoors are also not washed and they sometimes have blood stains of animals on them.
Interesting right…?
