💡Post of the day: Kaba or Maad, the local name for Saba Senegalensis is a tasty, sweet-sour fruit with yellow pulp when ripe. It’s from an indigenous climbing plant found in the wild of Sub-Saharan Africa countries including The Gambia. Its fruit is a globular shell which contains seeds coated with very soft, juicy, tangy and sweet orange-yellow pulp. You can taste the fruit as it is or season it with sugar, salt and chilli. Mixed with water and sugar, the pulps give a delicious juice. If you come to Gambia, don’t miss Kabas of Mariama Jabang aka “Kaba Girl” located at Senegambia !!!

African traditionnal culture, a person who dreamed of snakes is spiritually gifted. As long as the snake in your dream doesn’t bite you, it simply means that your ancestors are trying to reach out of you. The process is reversed for a pregnant woman who sees two snakes in her dream meaning that she will deliver twins babies.

💡 Post of the Day: Kora is a Mandinka harp built from a large calabash cut in half and covered with cow skin. It is different from Molo or Banjo. Kora players have traditionally come from jali families who are traditional historians, genealogists and storytellers who pass their skills on to their descendants. Most West African musicians prefer the term "jali" to "griot", which is the French word. "Jali" means something similar to a "bard" or oral historian. In the Gambia, we have the Legend Jaliba Kuyateh and the worldwide known Sona Jobarteh representing kora culture.

Detarium senegalense or gambianense is a leguminous tree in the subfamily Detarioideae. Its common names include ditax, ditakh, detar, and tallow tree. The tree is of value for several reasons: the fruit is nutritious, is locally prominent in folk medicine is a source of quality timber.It could contribute to food security, sustainable land care, and rural development. It was s considered as the favourite local juice in both Senegal and Gambia. The taste? No equivalent, come and taste it!

💡Post of the day: Mangrove is a shrub or small tree that growns in costal saline or brackish water. Mangroves are salt-tolerant trees, also call halophytes, and are adapted to life in harsh coastal conditions. In the Gambia, oysters harvesting in the Mangroves is mainly done by women. Why? Because gambian women are more resourceful!

💡 Post of the day: The kankourang (also kankouran, kankurang or konkoran) designates both a mask and a ritual celebrating circumcision among the Mandingues of Senegambia, in Gambia and Senegal, especially in Casamance, but also in Mbour where a large Mandingo community lives. It also plays a role in regulating and preserving social values. In its current forms, it would originate from the ancient kingdom of Kaabu.
