Keeping your Sea Ray boat in top shape is easier than you think. You can always ask us to maintain your sterndrive engine but in case you are curious here's a step-by-step guide to maintaining your MerCruiser sterndrive. 🌊

1️⃣ Use VesselView: This add-on feature sends a wealth of information to your smartphone or boat’s multi-function display. It keeps track of engine hours and notifies you when to service the boat engine.

2️⃣ Change the Engine Oil: MerCruiser has a series of videos on YouTube that walk you through this process. You can use a Mercury/Quicksilver crankcase pump or a drain hose connected to the boat’s drain plug.

3️⃣ Change the Gear Oil: This should be done at least every 100 hours and at the end of the season. The procedure is easy to perform and is demonstrated online by Mercury master mechanic Kevin Muth.

4️⃣ Try Other DIY Projects: Use the Single Point Drain feature, change spark plugs and wires, keep grease fittings lubricated, and replace your sterndrive’s sacrificial anodes.

3️⃣ Backing Down the Ramp: Align your vehicle and trailer, slowly back down the ramp, adjusting as needed. A friend can help guide you.

4️⃣ Launching the Boat: Once the stern begins to float, release the safety chain and the trailer winch. Ensure the drive or engine is in the water and starts. Slowly back your boat into the water until it floats off and is free of the trailer.

5️⃣ Docking: Walk your boat as far down the dock as possible before tying it to the dock cleats. If there's no dock nearby, move the boat to the nearest available dock.

6️⃣ Post-Launch: Move your vehicle and park it in the parking lot. Be considerate of other boaters and not leave your vehicle at the ramp longer than necessary.
