A worldwide survey investigating the disparity in surgical site infection preventative measures between different surgical fields and countries. One more interesting study with dear colleagues around the world !!!

“Surgical site infections (SSI) complicate up to 40% of surgical procedures, leading to increased patient morbidity and mortality. Previous research identified disparities in SSI prevention guidelines and clinical practicesacross different institutions. The study aims to identify variations in SSI prevention practices within and between specialties and financial systems and provide a representation of existing SSI preventative measures to help improve the standardization of SSI prevention practices.”

Glad to share the first Young IFSO scientific contribution, an international survey on Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Training and Education - including 240 international colleagues, published in Obesity Surgery journal.
It was a great pleasure be one of the participants !!!

I am extremely grateful to my colleagues who elected me and honored by their trust. The new Executive Board is made up of worthy colleagues with whom we will fight the necessary battles against severe obesity and its related comorbidities in Greece !!!

Surgical training and education are the pillars for a beautiful and successful surgical career. This is outlined in this recently published study that I am honored to co-author with dear colleagues from the UK 🇬🇧 !!!

“Surgical training is one of the longest training programs in the healthcare setting, requiring five to six years of postgraduate training for the full qualification. The results of this study have demonstrated that the key factors contributing to the success of a surgical training curriculum include the structured method of curriculum design, outstanding teaching delivery methods, the availability of appropriate faculty and infrastructure and the willingness to learn from trainee feedback and adjust the content of the course accordingly. We encourage surgical training centres within the UK and internationally to consider adopting a similar approach and method of delivery when delivering surgical skills courses.”

Honored to be appointed “Associate Editor in Surgical Oncology” in Frontiers journal !!!
