YOUNGO is the official Children and Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC (YOUTH + NGO = YOUNGO). It’s a network of youth organizations and individuals who get involved with international climate change policies and actions within the UNFCCC and the UN.

The UNFCCC is the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change also referred to as UN Climate Change. It was the first international agreement in which countries decided to mitigate global warming. It was endorsed at the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992 and came into force in New York City, USA, at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1994.

Every year YOUNGO together with local youth organizations organizes the Global Conference of Youth (COY) the days prior to the annual UN Climate Change Conference (COP). The COY brings together young people from around the world who are passionate about addressing climate change and promoting sustainable lifestyles.

🌿 This year's COY17 as COP27 will take place between 2nd and to 4th of November 2022 in Egypt.

Regional and Local COYs (RCOY & LCOY) aim to bring together youth from one region or country. RCOYs and LCOYs focus on climate related topics which have high regional and national importance, and the youth participants discuss and develop respective outputs, which are fed into the Global COY and consequently into the UN climate negotiations. They normally take place before the Global COY. Furthermore, they also serve the purpose to train youth and to build their capacities for climate action.

The COP is the supreme decision-making body of the Convention. All States that are Parties to the Convention (196 + EU) are represented at the COP, at which they review the implementation of the Convention and any other legal instruments that the COP adopts and take decisions necessary to promote the effective implementation of the Convention, including institutional and administrative arrangements. The first Conference of the Parties, COP1, was held in 1995 in Bonn, where the UNFCCC Secretariat is located.

▪️The Partners of the Erasmus+ funded project, in partnership with SDSN Black Sea and UN SDSN Mediterranean present the event "Sustainability in Action: Enhancing Universities' Sustainability Teaching and Practices through Ecological Footprint".

▪️ is increasingly gaining a central role in easing the transition to a sustainable society, and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) play an important role in this transformation. Leveraging all the outputs produced during the EUSTEPs project, this final event aims to walk participants through the EUSTEPs Educational Materials for teaching sustainability, the open access, digital University Footprint Calculator, and the recently tested on and Footprint.
