Hi all! It’s a funny story, how art and colour will always be on my mind, even when I’m supposed to be doing something else! My new collection ‘Cocktails and Floral Dreams” was inspired by our restaurant’s bar- all those colourful lit up bottles in a row were gorgeous! I knew I had to find a way to bring that into my work somehow. It clicked! Use the labels Liza!!! I thought they would make interesting vases. In the past I did a floral series using all Greek produce labels. So I started missioning trying to pick off labels! Hot steam from the coffee machine, yes how many times did I steamed in the face I can’t tell ya! Some came off, some were stubborn bastards. Nick (hubby) was not impressed that the bar had labels half off and torn. I said “well it’s for the sake of art!” I guess you can’t argue that now can you!? Anyhoo, I’m nearly finished still have a few to get through. And will set a date soon, they will be available to purchase on my NEW WEBSITE (link in the bio) can’t wait! Sneak peek 🫣 into my next flower series ‘Cafe Fleurs’. This year seeing all the liquor bottles at the restaurant sparked the idea of using their labels instead of tin cans this time like I had previously done after an amazing class with @amanda_evanston, I really want to use these labels.
