Jumping into 2024 with a splash🥳💦 Come and join us this Tuesday for an afternoon of Live Music by the pool… we’ve got cocktails, we’ve got sunshine, we’ve got new acts, and familiar faces waiting to welcome you back for another great summer at The Mill- so come along and get summer started with us! We can’t wait to see you!✨

And just like that… our 35th summer at the Mill has come to its end🌅

It's been a long, hot, and at times, a difficult season so I apologise now for this rather long post but I feel that everyone that has been part of our Mill Bar 2023 adventure definitely needs a mention. So grab a glass and read on!🥂

This summer saw a huge shortage of staff in the resort but what we lacked in staff numbers was made up by the efforts and enthusiasm of our amazing young team, who once again have given their absolute all. We are so lucky to have you all, and Spiros and I are honoured to call them our family.

They’ve been grumpy, they’ve been stressed, they’ve been exhausted- they’ve fought over who gets to chose the music day in, day out; who has to clean the loos, polish the cutlery, go up to the roof garden again… but they've looked for the laughter each day, made each other smile, and supported each other as best they can whilst upholding the high standards and hospitality that the Mill Bar is known for, making sure that everybody has the very best time they can.

So… Thank you to:
Our Chef, Aristides, working morning, through till night doing what nobody else can, to Paris, our assistant Chef who rose to the challenge, to Pavlos, to Eno, and a special mention to the fantastic lifeguard of Alykanas, Andreas, our honorary team member on many occasions…
To the wonderful “Morning Dionisio” who Never Ever sat down- always calm, (somehow!) always smiling… We wish you the best for your National Service this Winter and can’t wait to see you on the other side!
To the lovely Liva, who couldn’t ignore our calls any more and finally came back to us after a brilliant 2019 season- you’ve been extraordinary- we tried (and failed!) to make you a morning person- but even when you were absolutely shattered, you worked your socks off- Thank you!
Thank you to Dionisi, our little cherub bartender who turned 18 this summer and is now officially old enough to be serving you his amazing cocktails.....When there was just 5 of us to get through May you worked like 3 men, shaking those shakers with all your might, never complaining. You’ve made us smile, you’ve made us laugh (not with your jokes- never with your jokes!) and we are so proud of you.
To our amazing Riza, who came and went from university to make sure he was here to help us whenever he could before he settled in for the summer- you are a star. Thank you for bringing a lightness and joy to the long days and nights like only you can, for boosting morale, and for continually racing up those roofgarden steps! We miss you already…
Thank you to the wonderful Lucy, with her calm and patient attitude, taking reservations, sorting through the double (and triple!) bookings, contacting customers over and over, insuring that everyone can get the best seat in the house (very much looking forward to the ceremonial burning of the reservation book!) dealing with the social media and lots more, all whilst carrying on with the day to day routine of the Mill and making every weird and wonderful coffee under the sun… Always happy, always smiling...and always there.

And finally to Pascalis and Nikos for holding it and everyone together, day in, day out… cleaning, cooking, washing up, ordering, running the bars ... There are no words to describe how proud we are of you both and of your many skills ... Mill Bar… next generation.

A mention must also be given to our truly special friends and visitors who were always willing to lend a hand, clear glasses, decorate, even put in a 16 hour shift hey Lynne 😅 You know how truly grateful we are for the help, but it doesn’t hurt to say it again- THANK YOU… you know who you are but a special mention to Lynne, Marley, Vaso, Christian, Tracey, Millie, Sue, Jodie, Sheila, June, Emma and Danny, Paul and Rose… we are so grateful.

The days were busy and the nights even more so, and we wouldn’t be who we are without the amazing artists and acts who performed their hearts out week in week out to give you all entertainment and a night to remember this season…
Our 35th year saw the return of our fantastic Mark Tedin, a class act as Exclusively Elton, not to mention his amazing performances as a singing waiter (emphasis on the waiter!) and entertainer at some of our 2023 Weddings, Mark you’ve been brilliant!
And of course we had the craziness of our Mamma Mia Nights, which saw the return of the star that is Gogo, and brought us the pocket rocket Emma, our fantastic ABBA Girls… performing for us what must be 50 times this summer, every time with the energy and grace as though it was the first show… so girls, it’s our turn to say THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC!
We were lucky too, to have our beautiful Yas back with us for a few wonderful weeks where she shone as Dolly Parton and even brought the Eras Tour to Zakynthos as Taylor Swift- Your wit and incredible talent is a real treat to witness every time we get to see you perform- Thank you so much Yas!
And where would we be without our Famous Friday Greek Night, and our firecracker dancers… in the most extreme heat, in unexpected down pours, every single Friday (and some Sundays!) our wonderful dancers have given it their all… so to the amazing Vivi, Marietta, Spiros, Sakis… with sweet Katerina joining the ranks for the first time this season…
Thank you thank you thank you for the energy and the laughter.

And finally and most importantly, a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have visited us this season, and allowed us to be a part of your holiday. It is the time we spend with each and every one of you who comes back year after year, continously supporting us, and those first introductions where we know guests will become friends, that make these long long days and nights so worth it, and we so hope that we added to your holiday enjoyment in some small way

So one more big thank you, for the laughter, the friendships, the memories… we wish you all a wonderful winter and look ahead to next year, with some very exciting changes already getting underway here that we can’t wait to show you, and with renewed enthusiasm to find the fun together like only we can💙
