Congratulations, you have just become an entrepreneur. By having the courage to invest in an asset that seems likely to enrich both you and your customers, you have passed the second most important test of entrepreneurship.
Our faculty are all successful and practicing entrepreneurs with established businesses.
When Acton teachers step into class each day, they come from the real world.
The real value in the water pipeline example was not in discovering the pipeline, but in discovering that there were enough customers who wanted a similar item, delivered in a similar way, who were willing to pay enough per item that we could build a production process to profitably serve them.
An entrepreneur matches a set of needs with the specifications for a product that satisfies that need. The glue that holds these two “units” together is the benefit you offer to the customer when using your product—a product that must be better, faster, or cheaper than any other way of satisfying that need.
You must decide which customers you will refuse to serve. This means choosing which type of customers you will serve and specializing in delivering a specific type of “unit” to your chosen customers.
One of the biggest challenges for new entrepreneurs (and even many experienced entrepreneurs) is overcoming their fear of failure.
What's your goal?
Entrepreneurs don’t always “own” the business they’re building, nor are they necessarily huge risk-takers.
Understanding the industry competitive structure means knowing the history and status of customers, suppliers, competitors, product substitutes, and barriers to entry.
The quickest way to gain industry knowledge is to find a “flowing deal stream” and wade into it.
Acton provides marketable skills, or, at least, it provides a pathway to begin obtaining those skills.
To begin building a skill, you must be willing to start the journey.
Don't miss this opportunity to gain invaluable insights from one of today's most influential entrepreneurs. Kindly RSVP to secure your spot.
Know you’re going to make mistakes. Owning up to them and learning from them is the key to fighting another day.
Your purpose should inspire you and others.
As an entrepreneur, you must manage yourself—which can be more difficult than managing a team of twenty.
Above all, remember that it’s not about you. People will help you if they sense that you are on an important mission to help others, and have the character and drive to make a difference.
Instead of getting bogged down on finding the right answers, find the right questions to ask that will equip you to make the right decisions, even when you have little information.
