The origin of kushiyaki can be traced back to the Edo period in Japan 🇯🇵(17th to 19th century). During this time, street food vendors would grill skewered meats and vegetables over charcoal and sell them to customers. Yakitori and kushiyaki were affordable and convenient options for people looking for a quick and tasty meal.

Kushiyaki can encompass a wide variety of ingredients, including chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetables, and tofu. The skewered items are typically seasoned with sauces or marinades like tare (a sweet soy-based sauce) or salt, and then grilled to perfection. The grilling process imparts a smoky flavor to the ingredients, enhancing their taste.👅

A refreshing drink with the classic Japanese touch, a perfect option for summer drink. With the careful infusion of the wasabi flavour, together with the wasabi nori and fresh cucumber as side, the drinks re-creates the taste and smell of a sushi-ya (sushi shop) with the touch of shiso and wasabi.

The Daiyame Imo Shochu then adds the lychee note to the drink even there isn’t any lychee made liqueur in this shochu and the cocktail! 😮

Cherry Blossom (Sakura) with it’s distinctive notched petals, blooms briefly and is fragile. It symbolises new beginnings, renewal (early Spring), beauty and the transience of life. 🎏
