As we continue to with our Thursdays, we thought for July 4, let’s go to the Founders . We are not (and given current Supreme Court rulings, apparently they’re not either, since they’re going back before July 4, 1776 to reinstate King-like powers). This lovely nutty brown ale represents all that used to be right with the USA. As founder likely never said, “In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria”

A little Sunday night history. Art Larrance, who died in May, was a true pioneer in the US craft brewing scene and one to whom we all owe quite a debt. He lobbied successfully for Oregon to license brewpubs, founded Portland Brewing, and eventually .brewing , a giant of the US sour beer market. In the aftermath of Art’s death, Cascade is “temporarily closed” Not sure who could help .ulukaya . But in honour of Art and all he did, we’ll be pouring one out this week. Thursdays just got better. Come up to Yardleys Taproom every Thursday for our . Rare Bottle Pours on Thursday will give you a cost price chance to try some incredibly well-rated beers. We've managed to get some cellars from some US collectors and will be pouring a range of beers every Thursday to get a chance to try them! This week, we're showcasing beers from two of the best-known US producers. Patrick Rue founded The Bruery in 2008 in Placentia, CA and they quickly became one of the most important producers of barrel-aged beers. Black Tuesday is arguably their flagship beer, released once a year on the final Tuesday in October. The 2020 is one of the highest rated vintages. Portland's Cascade Brewing dates back to 1998 with founders Art Larrance and Ron Gansberg. By the early 2000s, they had shifted to producing primarily sour beers, using local wine barrels and fruit to get out of the "hops arms race". Their 2011 Elderberry features magnificant juicy fruits and a palate-bracing tartness.
