To express the free-flow and graceful creativity of Amber's fine dining experience, the brand design expresses the 7 manifestos via the 7 layers of progressive, organic, free flowing shapes on the front cover. In beautiful beige and champagne gold foil, each layer is expressed in different depths, built atop the previous, visually seen and felt with a luxurious, tactile quality.
Branding design is done by the award-winning creative studio Ruth Chao Studio, led by Ruth Chao. Ruth is the youngest creative director to lead a win the Berlin Red Dot Design Awards and has more than 30 design awards in the past 3 years.

IG : ‘The new delicious. Some of you may recall an “I can’t believe it’s not butter campaign.” Forget that (if you haven’t already) and check out the reinvented Amber instead. All dairy has been ditched, not just butter, but milk, cream and cheese. It’s gluten-free too. What? No! ... Yes! Alternatives have been found, the food is purer, healthier, and most importantly, it tastes bloody good. I was a doubting Thomas at first (forgive me ) but after being treated to a meal there, I’m a convert. Dishes like corn and caviar, peas and cuttlefish or an avocado dessert are light yet so luxurious on the palate. The surprise course eaten in the sexed-up kitchen is a chance to admire the goings on of his talented team and know that this isn’t Wizard of Oz trickery but the real deal.’
The Private Room by Amber offers all the excitement of Amber’s award-winning progressive cuisine in an intimate setting ideal for special occasions. Accommodating up to 16 guests, its glamorous interiors echo Amber’s Adam D. Tihany-designed interiors with brass and oak tables and elegant wood and custom embroidered textile walls. Part of the culinary tour while Amber was under renovation brought Richard and his team to Marrakech, a place rich in tea and spices, and Richard found out that peppermint is one of the most popular type of teas there. Inspired by the aroma of peppermint, Richard incorporated it in his new Spring Lamb dish, complemented with the natural, subtle sweetness of Japanese turnip.

Acclaimed New York designer Adam Tihany, the founder of Tihany Design who oversaw Amber restaurant’s original interiors, has returned for the renovation. Less formal and more contemporary, the new design features warm, neutral colours and organic forms, creating a softer, more inviting environment. Curving low partitions snake through the restaurant creating pockets of intimate dining spaces.

Amber Reopens Today
After four months of renovations, chef Richard Ekkebus has relaunched Amber in Hong Kong with new decor, dishes and a bold new culinary philosophy. The new menu dispenses with dairy products, minimises refined sugar and reduces salt, inviting diners to appreciate flavours in their purest form. As Richard explains: “In developing this new menu, my intention was to strip away artifice or gimmickry and present seasonal dishes that are sublime in their subtlety."

“In developing this new menu, my intention was to strip away artifice or gimmickry and enhance the dining experience by presenting seasonal dishes that are sublime in their subtlety,” explains Executive chef Richard Ekkebus as he counts down for tomorrow’s long-awaited relaunch of Amber.
“Amber has changed because the expectations of our diners have evolved. We have put a tremendous amount of passion and energy into creating the new menu, the new flavours and the new décor. We are excited about the new direction and we look forward to welcoming you to the all-new Amber.” Executive Chef Richard Ekkebus on the changes diners can expect when Amber reopens on Thursday, 2 May.
