Florence and Daniel Cathiard, the masterminds behind Smith Haut Lafitte, are simply unstoppable!

Their 🍷💎 latest venture, Cathiard Vineyard, is a beautiful property located at the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, right next to the famous Dana Estate. No expense has been spared on this young project, with the latest techniques such as optical sorting and closely controlled temperature fermentation being utilized. The Cathiards have even invited Napa royalty, Fred Ammons (former winemaker of ), to form an expert winemaking team with Justine Labbé, ensuring that everything is done to perfection.

Unsurprisingly, the inaugural vintage is already showing great promise, scoring 96pts from Jane Anson and 97pts from James Suckling. This “gorgeously balanced” pure Cabernet Sauvignon boasts “spiced greengage plum and pomegranate fruits with floral undertones” and with its serious ageing potentail, it is poised to become a leading player in the Napa fine wine scene. Legend has it that to craft exceptional wine in Médoc, one must have a view of the river. Château Latour nestles closer to the Gironde’s estuary than any other First Growth estate. The gravelly terroir of Latour’s is simply extraordinary, and has been producing one of the world's most esteemed Cabernet blends for over 300 years.

Today, we celebrate the latest release ex-château of this legendary Pauillac vintage. The 2015 Latour boasts a triple 98 points from Jane Anson of Inside Bordeaux, Antonio Galloni of Vinous and Lisa Perrotti-Brown of The Wine Independent. Galloni calls it a "seamless, totally captivating wine", and the whole wine world will be on tenterhooks today trying to secure allocations.
