Roots is a cosy French-Cantonese bistro on Sun Street, a quaint part of the Wanchai Star Street neighbourhood. The bistro is playful in creating dishes that are approachble with refined ex*****on, whilst blending influences from the East and the West.

Special announcement: We will be closed from today until 28 February. We just received the unfortunate news that one of our fully vaccinated staff members (booster shot included) has tested preliminary positive. This staff member did not go to work this week, staying at home out of caution and only preliminary tested positive today. All other staff members did not have contact with this colleague before and after he tested positive and the entire team’s rapid test results are negative (as of yesterday).
Out of abundance of caution given the dire external circumstances as of late, we have decided to close until 28 February to safeguard our staff members and our guests.
The team will continue to test every 3 days and prior to reopening on 1 March, we will all will have been tested again and will only reopen upon all negative results. The venue will also go through a deep cleaning disinfection prior to reopening.
We hope everyone remains safe and we will see you soon again.

Tender octopus, carpaccio style, slow cooked in Chinese Yellow Wine paired with an array of in house pickles (cucumber, chillis, asparagus) to kick flavours up another notch. The dish is finished with a sprinkle of dried shrimp roe and finely cut spring onions, to further bring out the sea and land flavours.
