’s founder, is showcasing his latest work, “Cabinet of Symbio-sities,” at the RCA 2024 Postgraduate Exhibition in London.

Sau-Lun Yeung applies traditional silversmithing and jewellery-making techniques to found objects and bio-materials, creating contemporary jewellery and objects.

His current research, “Cabinet of Symbio-sities,” is an experimental project that brings science, biology, and chemistry experiments into the realm of jewellery art. This research explores themes of colonialism, parasitism, global migrant mobility, and political and human history through the collection and transformation of found objects using crystallization, mycelium, and slime mold growth.

【⌖STORYTELLER SERIES⌖ Vol.06 若即若離的城市遊人 – 楊修麟@thepolskatraveller 】

經歷疫情三年，不少人選擇移民，城市遊人這個身份對今日的香港人來說應該不太陌生，今期邀請到於各地周遊列國尋找創作靈感，曾於波蘭任藝術治療師，首飾店The Polska Traveller () 店主修麟分享: 透過創作飾品，將回憶記低、將文化承傳。有超過一半時間離開香港生活的他，對於「家」和「根」的概念又是如何：

【 城市的靈魂 】

「一個地方如何變得有趣，一座城市的靈魂其實是應由不同的單位來組成的。」

「我很害怕『士紳化』。」，他說，我們會在不同城市看到這個情況，在一個舊區裡開始有新式店舖、咖啡店進駐，然後因租金與成本上漲，慢慢地「趕走」舊舖，令一個區域漸漸失去本來的人文特色。

修麟店舖選址於西營盤，是因為他很喜歡它的新舊共存，旁邊一帶都是舊樓，附近有做電油、賣海味的，又有新式咖啡店。透過和當區的鄰舍聊天、遊走不同角落，令他覺得自己能與社區形成連結，在視覺、味覺、聽覺上都可以實在地體驗文化，亦很自然地創造一些融合相關元素的產品。產品以外，店舖亦沿用舊有海味舖的牆身，外面亦安裝了霓虹燈，修麟希望整個設計配合附近環境。

「西營盤是個很好的地方，但最怕有天人們蜂擁而至。一旦變得熱門，就會很快『死亡』。」，修麟以深水埗為例，當區 cafe 潮流來襲，令很多五金舖突然消失，令他大感可惜。「有些空間只要你懂得去保留，你懂得怎去運用，其實舊的東西是應該去保留的。」

「你每一個決定、每一次消費，都是在投下一票。」，修麟不希望人們等到一些本地店舖結業的時候，才一窩蜂去打卡，「每天做一些好的選擇，這件事才能繼續去做」。

【 漂浮的家 】

正在英國倫敦皇家藝術學院( ) 修讀Jewellery & Metal ( ) 首飾碩士課程的修麟，常因旅遊和工作而經常往返外地和香港，對於「家是哪裡？」這個問題，他說每次回到香港當刻都有「回來了」的感覺，但這種感覺卻不限於香港，例如回到經常到訪的新加坡時，他也會有這樣的感覺，在經過一些猶疑與思考後，他得出了一個結論：「現在的我覺得很流動」。

他覺得只要在一個地方住一段長時間，便會感受到一種熟悉的狀態，只要隔一會再回到那裡，就會有「回來了」的感覺。「儘管不同地方之間相差一定的物理距離，但去到最後，又有很多東西是很相似的」，他形容遊歷的過程就好像自己拿著「一條匙」，無論到每個地方，終究會找到想接觸的事情和物件，找到和自己相通的東西。

近年很多人討論移民，但修麟卻對此有特別的見解，「無論在哪裏，你的心態都可以轉化某處成為你的家，不一定只可以有一處，是可以由不同地方組成」。

儘管修麟認為「家」的概念是流動的、是由不同地方拼湊而成，但在身份認同方面，他仍然覺得自己是香港人，「作為香港人，我有這個能力去把它（傳統金工工業）去承傳和轉化，做到的事就希望盡量做。」。

「就算你有更多個家，你的根仍然是在這裡。」

【 Vol.06 若即若離的城市遊人 – 楊修麟 】

有超過一半時間離開香港遊歷在外生活的他，對於「家」和「根」的概念又是如何：

【 從實驗與轉變開始 】

修麟在浸大修讀 Visual Arts 期間，創作大多為雕塑，到現在以金工為主要創作媒介，但他覺得這個轉變「好隨意」，因為是隨著生命裏的不同際遇而走到這裡。早在韓國慶𤋮大學雕塑學系當交換生期間，他已學過一些金工的鑄造技巧，而後來又因海外實習的機會，到波蘭一所自閉症兒童中心當藝術治療師，在遊歷當地期間收集了很多不同物件作為創作素材。集結世界各地的故事、意念、物件，再拼湊出每一件創作，大概就是修麟的生活哲學。

修麟形容每次的創作都是「實驗」，但他認為儘管不同媒介的表現方式不一樣，做出來的創作都可以表達相同的東西，反而重點是創作者如何因應想表達的內容靈活變通。

經歷疫情三年，「好像將很繁忙的生活定格，有一個喘息空間給大家思考有什麼想做」，反而能夠嘗試更多不同的試驗，他說例如有一對做藍染布創作的朋友焦急地找他造結婚戒指，起初他有點擔心，笑稱「這些東西是一世的吧。」，他雖口裡說不，但還是動起手來。因為那對情侶都非常喜歡藍染藝術，所以即場拆了「藍染盆栽」的布來 Life Casting（實物鑄造），令戒指有著布的觸感，再把它染成紫藍色，為這顆戒指增添一層意義。

又例如 Jer（柳應廷）出道的時候，他和修麟一起因應 「物語三部曲」的歌曲（水刑物語、風鈴物語、迴光物語）想出一套三隻的概念戒指設計。由於三首歌曲之間的結尾與前奏是互相連接與配合的，故戒指的凹凸位設計令他們彼此可以互相緊扣，成為一體。

【 旅行 ⌖ 醞釀靈感的土壤 】

修麟以前沒有很喜歡香港，他一臉嫌棄地說，這裡所有東西都很快、很迫，疫情前到處也很多遊客，覺得沒有空間容許大家去思考、去創作，每天都按照固有常規生活，集中在現實的事物或工作。「但所有的創作都一定需要醞釀、需要發酵，然後再去實驗。」，

為什麼很多人都說要從旅行找靈感，他覺得「或許是打破了每一天固有的一個 routine，可以從陌生的環境中得到新刺激，打開自己的感官去探索。」例如他去旅行時會到訪當地街市、露營行山、到朋友的家裡聊天，而修麟創作的蕾絲系列，靈感就是來自朋友祖母所收集的一些舊蕾絲布料，「所以創作其實不可能計劃，很多靈感都是很即興、機緣巧合而來的。」。

但到了疫症期間，修麟對旅遊的定義有新的體會，覺得旅遊不一定如此狹隘，既然不能夠像以前到外國探索，「其實在香港也可以旅遊」，所以他當時就在舖頭所在的西營盤區找靈感，利用一些本土的材料，如藥材、咸竹蜂、涼茶等實物鑄造，創作了中藥材系列的首飾。

或許醞釀靈感的土壤，不一定是外地，也不一定是本地，只要是能夠自在地去創作，就是修麟的歸處。對於未來的旅行目的地，他並沒有一個固定的答案，他覺得只要不斷打破固有的生活模式，就能夠轉化經歷所得，成為自己的的作品和養分。

他認為很多人去旅行離不開飲食和購物，和平日在香港的日常差別不大，只是物理上身處的地點不同，但內在思想和對不同事情的觀感卻是一樣。「到一個新的地方遊歷，你不可以做和平日一樣的事情。」，所以他覺得自己在波蘭的遊歷是一個好的起點，環境、語言、文化不同，但也可能會找到一些和自己身處的地方有共同之處的人和事。
