Jacinta first started her yoga journey to improve her physical flexibility from gym training in 2021. She then realized that yoga not only helps raise her body awareness through asanas, but she also finds inner peace through pranayama and meditation. She enjoys the equilibrium of physical and mental wellness achieved during yoga practices. Yoga teaches her to slow down from the hectic world by listening to our heart and body, she gradually unlocks her weaknesses and solidifies her foundation through repeated practices. She builds higher self-esteem and brings positive energy to her life. As a physiotherapist herself, she believes in the connection between physiotherapy and yoga through clinical reasoning and individualized asanas as one of the techniques to provide rehabilitation service. By means of “Physio x Yoga”, it creates a pathway to benefit patients with a scientific and holistic approach.
Despite infrequent yoga classes all along the years, little did Katrina know what yoga actually is other than simple stretching. Her first taste of inversion and arm balance in a random class in 2021 fascinated her and gave her a brand new perspective towards yoga. Since then, she practised yoga regularly even during covid lockdown. Contradictory may it seem, in numerous sweaty challenges of asana practice, she not only built muscle strength and flexibility but also found her inner peace and tranquility. She would like to spread such experience of transformation in body, mind and soul to others and continue to walk the journey of yoga practice as a lifelong student.
To improve her flexibility, Wincy first attempted yoga in 2020. The more she practices yoga, the more she realises that yoga is not a workout, but more importantly it is a work-in. She has always been an impatient person. After practising inversions regularly, she understands that haste makes waste. It trains her to stay calm and take things slowly especially in the face of fear. From baby steps to unlocking asanas, she enjoys the process of communicating with her own body and overcoming fear more than the satisfaction brought by unlocking asanas. After all, asana is merely one of the eight limbs of yoga, and a means to meditation. Upon the completion of yoga teacher training course, the more she learns, the less she knows. She is more than willing to explore further the journey of unifying of body, mind and soul, and share such experience with others. Last but not least, she would like to take this opportunity to express her heartfelt gratitude to her teacher- Katherine Lee for enlightening her yoga journey. Namaste.
Carol embarked her yoga journey with a typical impression of yoga as a very feminine activity and the uncertainty about herself for not being feminine enough. Yet, the moment she started practising yoga has been a turning point of not just how she sees yoga, but also of her view on keeping her mind and heart open. Throughout her practices, Carol is able to find peace, focus and stillness in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and more importantly, to learn how to strike the right balance in both life and practising yoga - balance between flexibility and strength, achieving quick success and being patient with yourself, introspection and appreciation. With an open invitation to join along the journey, Carol hopes everyone can have some takeaways in various aspects through practicing yoga.
