The smell of cream of wheat pap,
That's what we had after our long nap.
Momma in the kitchen,
father fishing.

A new day, a new adventure, nothing was boring, every day was unique.
Doing errands.
Doing work with our parents.
Climbing trees and hurting our knees,
pelting rocks and washing our socks,
Cleaning pots and playing with tops.

Swimming to our heart's content,
going under, holding our breath and just thinking that there wasn't anything nor any place better in the world–Such a culture is worth more than a pearl.

No cars nor traffic to worry about,
No watches needed as time never faded.
Using our best clothes on Sundays,
sharing God's love on Mondays.

A simple life, a happy life, a beautiful family life. No matter what anyone says, it lives in our minds, in our memories and in our day to day passion and actions.

We must never let it die, for all of those that struggled for us, we must continue moving forward, never to leeward, always windward. We must keep on fighting to keep our culture strong and resilient, pragmatic and realistic. May God bless our Bay Islands of Honduras.
