🎄 As many of you know, I fundraise every Christmas for those less fortunate living on the island of Roatan.

This year, help is needed more than ever. In addition to the COVID 19 pandemic, Hurricane ETA devastated parts of mainland Honduras, leaving some 400,000 estimated families not only homeless, but having lost every single possession.

This year, in addition to helping those on roatan with a bag of groceries on Christmas Eve, I would like to send diapers and baby food to those in need on the mainland. People have been great about sending clothes, but those two items are often over looked and much needed.

If you can hope donate - and EVERY little bit helps! - I can accept via Canadian e-transfer, PayPal, or USD account or Honduran account bank transfer.

Every year, I receive multiple $5 & $10 donations and this amounts to hundreds of dollars, so I really stress that every little bit help. $8 is enough for a small bag of groceries for a family here.

🙏🏼 Christmas is my favourite time of year and the best part of this season in my entire life has been giving back on this island. Imagine the relief of waking up on Christmas morning and knowing there’s no hungry bellies in your house. And you can just cook and your kids can play for a day and you can push worry aside for a few hours. This is the gift you’re giving!!

🎄 Day 1 of Christmas Magic fundraising was a success! 🌴

🔺 My goal this year is a humble $1,000 USD. To fill 60 bags of groceries and have a little bit leftover to bring some teddy bears and a couple of cases of apples and candy canes to hand out to the children. 🐻 🍎 🍭

🔺 Yesterday raised $135 CAD. Thank you to those who donated so far. I am humbled and full of gratitude. 🥰

To all of our past West Bay Delight guests in Roatan:

Happy November 1st everyone! 🎄 It’s my 3rd annual ‘Christmas Magic’ fundraiser for various causes on the island!

Last year was a massive success. Along with help from friends family, some friends additional fundraising on the island the direction of Nidia P. Webster I raised enough funds to do the following:

🔺 Gifted 60 moms a week’s worth of groceries for their families ( We also gifted each child a loot bag with colouring books, socks and little toys or stickers. Each baby got a stuffed animal, we came with a couple cases of apples to hand out and the best part, Santa came with candy canes and took pictures!) I got 60 hugs that day. Best day ever! We even included a box of cake mix and frosting in each bag so each family could bake a Christmas cake.
🔺 Donated approximately 15 cans of formula, 4 cases of jarred baby food and a ton of pampers wipes to Familia Saludables (families living with or affected by HIV)
🔺Sent over 40 children to school by purchasing their uniform and notebooks for the year.
🔺Bought a ton of bags of dog and cat food for the animal shelter.

‘Tis the beginning of the season everyone. And on Roatan, this means Low Season. Less cruise ships, less flights, empty hotel rooms.... less chances for locals to make a days wage to feed their families. I pass by hungry bellies, children wearing too small shoes and families who won’t afford to gift their kids a single item at Christmas every day here.

I live in Paradise. But I am a guest in this country with an opportunity to give back. I will contribute financially and donate my time as well, but I don’t have enough and need your help again. Please consider donating again this year. Every little bit helps. To put ‘little bit’ in perspective - I want to let you know that the amount of $5 donations I received added up to $105 last year! So don’t think that your $5 won’t matter - it does! And it is also enough money to buy a bag of rice, beans and carton of eggs!

Perfect location and service with a smile

I’ve stayed in west bay village multiple times but this was first time here. This area is awesome for cleanliness safety close to everything. The house was clean and comfortable for 2 couples. Both bedrooms have bathrooms in them. One with queen and we combined the two twins in the other for a king. One opens to the screened patio also accessible from the front porch. The patio has table chairs bench seating lounge chair and a hammock perfect for hanging out. The living room has plenty of seating to watch the tv with plenty of channels in multiple languages and a basket of DVDs for the DVD player. There is another table and chairs along with bar seating at the island in the kitchen. Kitchen has everything you need. There is air conditioning in all rooms and they blows plenty cold. House has a ton of windows making it super light but curtains if you want privacy. The lock box for the key simplified going to water to snorkel. The owners live upstairs and are available and attentive but never intrusive. They were super quiet and very sweet. Walk to snorkel or borrow their kayak. You have a private area for laying at beach and plenty of chairs or loungers. The awesome security team will even carry a chair for you. Turn either direction for restaurants bars or shopping. Our stay was simply a pleasure and it was nice to stay and we will no doubt be back.

The water clarity today was ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. We definitely took advantage! Even our 6 year old daughter got in on the snorkeling action!

West Bay Beach and more specifically, our beach house rental - West Bay Delight - are very family friendly. Calm, clear water and soft sand are only 30 seconds away from the front door of WBD. Inside, we offer a 1,000 square foot ground floor beach house complete with everything you and your family need to have a great vacation. Beach towels, sand toys, water floaties, a kayak and even board games and family friendly DVD’s to spend some quality time together at the end of the evening - we provide it all!

There’s a reason why we are consistently rated a 5 star accommodation on Airbnb, VRBO and Booking.com: family run, small businesses do it better! We know families. We love our family. Most importantly, we love to host families!

“We absolutely loved staying at Lindsay’s place. It was immaculate, so close to the beach in a perfect quiet safe location with security guards. There was air conditioning which was a welcome surprise, heaps of DVD’s for our children and heaps of beach toys for them to use too. The beds were super comfy and we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more. Lindsay looked after us so well with all of our questions and was quick to organise transport for us with her driver when we needed it (additional cost obviously). The photos of the house don’t do it justice in terms of its location to the beach. It is literally a one minute barefoot walk onto the beach and the beach is something else entirely - pristine white sand and calm turquoise waters - perfect for children again - and right next to a water taxi tank. Brilliant holiday thanks so much again Lindsay!”

La Placita in West Bay has expanded with tons of new shops and seating in a unique outdoor space. Gift shops, an ice cream store, a French fry stand and some local food joints are just some of what you’ll find in there! Last night we had tacos from ‘The Blue Catrina’ and they were delicious! 5 minutes walk from our property and under $6 per person to eat! Yum 😋

West Bay Delight is just that-a delight! I've just returned from a 2 week stay there and am booking for next year now. This ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath unit is fully equipped for cooking both inside or on the outdoor gas grille. It is tastefully furnished, clean, and has a fun nautical, island decor. The screened porch is a real plus and the air conditioners work very well. There's nothing not to like about it.

West Bay is a great place for from the shore snorkeling with lots of fish or just relaxing in the warm water at the shore. The beach is a bit busy but has several restaurants to sample and vendor shops of local cfats and dive shops. There are more restaurants nearby or in West End, reachable by car or water taxi. Lindsey and Luke are the perfect owner/hosts. They know the island well, have lots of good contacts, and help in every way they can but are never intrusive. Their young daughter is extremely well behaved and a pleasure to know.

In short, this is a great place for a beach vacation which I hope too many people don't find out about!

We had to share this amazing throwback of West Bay Beach in the early 1980’s.

Wishing there were such things as time machines so we could experience the tranquility of the beach back then!

Also, fun fact: The Jackson family boat in this picture is still alive and kicking! It’s docked in Half Moon Bay in West End and is used as a fishing boat by another family.

🏝 A beautiful aerial view of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef!

- This amazing snorkeling spot is located just offshore in West Bay. Seen frequently on this part of the reef: parrot fish, schools of blue tang and seargeant majors, all kinds of angel fish, schools of jacks, a few species of grouper, moray eels, sting rays and spotted eagle rays. If you’re lucky, a hawksbill turtle!

- Oh and did we mention, this is exact spot is located only a 5 minute walk down the beach from West Bay Delight, our Airbnb?
