Richard Deacon was born in Bangor, Wales, UK in 1949 and lives and works in London, UK. He has a BA from St Martin’s School of Art, London, UK (1972) and an MA in Environmental Media from the Royal College of Art, London, UK (1977). Solo exhibitions include Middelheim Museum, Antwerp, Belgium (2017); San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego, CA, USA (2017); Prague City Gallery, Prague, Czech Republic (2017); Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany (2016), Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2015); Tate Britain, London, UK (2014); Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany (2011); Musée de la Ville de Strasbourg, France (2010); Portland Art Museum, Oregon, USA (2008); PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York, USA (2001); MACCSI, Caracas, Venezuela (1996); Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, UK (1989) and Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, USA (1988). He represented Wales at the Venice Biennale, Italy (2007) and has participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale, Italy (2012), Glasgow International, UK (2006) and documenta 9, Kassel, Germany (1992). He won the Turner Prize in 1987 and the Robert Jakobsen Prize, Museum Wurth, Kunzelsau, Germany in 1995. He was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres by the Ministry of Culture, France in 1996 and made a CBE in 1999.

Marko Gutić Mižimakov’s exhibition With this massive hole in the pillow next to my head is a direct continuation of his performance Less than the sum of its parts that condensed a broader artistic exploration into a sci-fi story about two pilots aboard the КОНКОРДИКА spaceship. The story blends various textual fragments such as personal notes, diary entries, or words and thoughts borrowed from other artists; the exhibition contains only fragments of this narrative, while the focus shifts to specific objects that act as traces, reviving bodies, materializing spaces and embedding sound.
Central to the show are lifeless, empty pilot uniforms, with the rigid plastic objects in them hinting at the bodies that might once have worn them. The soft and pliable fabric of the uniforms is marked by shells and shards - scars from the voyage across infinite space and time in the search for the Black Hole at the center of the galaxy. The pilots’ quest for the Black Hole indirectly unravels small histories of AIDS and their trans-generational aftershocks, the collage structure uniting their various real and fictional reflections.
The shells in the installation serve as a conduit that transmits parts of this heterogeneous palimpsest while simultaneously grounding the far-flung galactic points reached during the voyage. The voices in the shells are more than noise; they lure the listeners who hear a frayed fictional travelogue that navigates through collected memories, associations, and visual stimuli. The route charted by the exploration places us, here and now, into an intimate and vulnerable space of a glowing bedroom, both secured and isolated by a metal cage. The bodies have recently left it or are about to return at any moment.(Lea Vene)

Zbog utjecaja na stvaralačku paradigmu Mimmo Paladino je umjetnik koji se smatra jednim od klasika suvremene umjetnosti, a zbog tema i motiva koje je svojim opusom na velika vrata vratio unutar obzora vizualnih umjetnosti, i nastavljačem klasične ideje o uzvišenosti umjetničkog objekta i zanata. Mimma Paladina, uz rad drugih talijanskih umjetnika kao što su Sandro Chia, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi i Nicola de Maria, smatraju središnjom figurom Transavangarde.

S ovom ogromnom rupom na jastuku pored moje glave direktno se nadovezuje na njegov performans Manje od zbroja svojih dijelova koji je proizašao iz šireg umjetničkog istraživanja objedinjenog u formi SF priče o dvojici pilota broda КОНКОРДИКA. Priča je ispletena od raznolikog tekstualnog materijala poput osobnih bilješki, dnevničkih zapisa ili pak riječi i misli preuzetih od drugih umjetnika. Na izložbi osluškujemo samo fragmente tog narativa, dok je fokus sada stavljen na konkretne objekte kao tragove koji oživljavaju tijela, materijaliziraju prostore i situiraju zvuk.

Središnji dio izložbe okupiraju beživotne ispražnjene pilotske uniforme u kojima jedino kruti plastični objekti aludiraju na moguća tijela koja su ih nosila. Podatne i meke teksture odijela nastanjuju školjke i krhotine poput ožiljaka s putovanja u goleme prostorne i vremenske udaljenosti u potrazi za Crnom rupom u središtu galaksije. Pilotska misija pronalaska Crne rupe zapravo indirektno rastvara male povijesti AIDS-a i njihovih transgeneracijskih nuspojava. Kolažna struktura ujedinjuje osobne, tuđe i potpuno fikcijske refleksije te povijesti.

Školjke u instalaciji postaju medij koji prenosi dio tog heterogenog palimpsesta dok istovremeno uzemljavaju raspršene galaktičke točke dotaknute na ovom putovanju. Glas otjelovljen u školjkama priziva slušatelje koji umjesto šuma čuju iskrzani fiktivni putopis koji navigira kroz prikupljena sjećanja, asocijacije i vizualne podražaje. Istraživačka ruta smješta nas ovdje i sada, u intimni i ranjivi prostor užarene spavaće sobe osigurane, ali i odsječene, metalnim kavezom. Tijela su prostor nedavno napustila ili će se pak svaki čas vratiti. (Lea Vene)
