Klis Fortress, also known as Tvrđava Klis in Croatian, is a medieval stronghold perched above the village that shares its name, near Split, Croatia. Its origins trace back to a small Illyrian stronghold built by the ancient Dalmatae tribe. Over its extensive two-thousand-year history, the fortress evolved from a royal castle, serving as the seat of Croatian kings, to a formidable stronghold during the Ottoman wars in Europe. Positioned strategically on a pass between the Mosor and Kozjak mountains, Klis Fortress played a crucial role in defending the frontier against various invasions, particularly during the Ottoman advance. Its location as a significant crossroad between the Mediterranean belt and the Balkan rear underscores its historical importance.

Baljenac is a small island in the Adriatic Sea, located off the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. Although it is only about 34 acres (14 hectares) in area, it contains a network of roughly 14 miles (23 km) of low stone walls — making it resemble a fingerprint from above. Baljenac is uninhabited; its walls were built by residents of the nearby island of Kaprije to separate crop fields and vineyards.

Odete li ikad u u gradu ?

bilo je prvo stalno splitsko kino otvoreno u 📍Marmontovoj ulici u prosincu 1907. godine.

Otvoreno je zaslugom Josipa Bepa Karamana (Split, 1864. – Beč, 1921.), prvog filmskog snimatelja u Dalmaciji.

je kupio je kuću u 📍 Marmontovoj ulici u kojoj se nalazila vježbaonica Hrvatskog sokola. Ta je dvorana poslužila kao prvi stalni kinematograf u Splitu. 📽️

Josip Karaman u njemu je javno prikazivao i svoje filmove te su se njegovom zaslugom filmovi od 1914. godine počeli prevoditi na hrvatski jezik.

Just like the rest of the world, we would also like to forget all bad years behind us as soon as possible. We won't lose our hope and optimism for the future and we pray for PEACE. 🙏

For thousands of years we were under domination of other nations, struggling for our freedom and sovereignty, that finished with a terrible war and lasted for five years. We came out victorious, but we still feel sorrow, over sad destinies and lives that have been changed by atrocities witnessed and experienced. That is the main reason we are so passionate about the accurate interpretation of our history.

In respect to our ancestors, and all the people affected throughout our history we emphasize- no one can interpret our complicated history as we can - our emotion and passion, our strenght and endurance in fighting for freedom. Our biggest problem are still the demands of European Comission considering the, de facto, deregulation.
Our wish is to be united in diversity, but not to be overrun by it. The European Parliament resolution of 25 March 2021 on establishing an EU strategy for sustainable tourism (2020/2038(INI)) gives us hope.

This year, we would like to conclude with WFTGA motto: Guides, peace ambassadors-
praying for peace. We hope for the best in the future🙏

Stari Split je imao karantenu 😷

Splićani stariji od 60 godina možda se i sjećaju kroz čiji uski prolaz se nekada moglo doći s istoka grada do 📍Rive.

Zašto su i kada nastali lazareti? 📣

Razvojem trgovine između Osmanskog Carstva i Mletačke republike, porasla je važnost splitske luke.

Roba se, u početku, skladištila u prostorima unutar grada i očišćenim dijelovima podruma Dioklecijanove palače, što je moglo izazvati velike zdravstvene probleme građanima. 🤒

Mletački Židov je predložio 1566. mletačkoj vladi izgradnju skele s lazaretom u Splitu koji je 1673. godine bio u potpunosti dovršen.

Splitski lazaret predstavljao je sklop građevina, prizemnica i jednokatnica, dugačak oko 200 metara. Postojala su dva glavna ulaza u kompleks, jedan sa sjeverne strane, i drugi s južne, na moru.

🏭 U lazaretu su bile smješteni stanovi upravitelja lazareta, liječnika i stražara, turskog emina koji bi pratio karavane, skladišta hrane i soli, te carinski uredi, staje za konje i mazge, ali i crkvica sv. Roka, zaštitnika okuženih.

Gradnjom Turističke palače 1968. godine zbrisani su i ostaci temelja Lazareta i otvoren je prilaz Rivi.

VUČEDOLSKA KULTURA je eneolitička kultura iz 3. tisućljeća pr. Kr. koja se iz istočne Slavonije i Srijema proširila na prostor današnjih 13 europskih zemalja. Naziv je dobila po Vučedolu nedaleko od Vukovara koji spada među najznačajnije arheološke lokalitete u Europe, naseljene još od 6000 godina pr. Kr. 🧾

Na samom lokalitetu u Vučedolu danas se nalazi Muzej vučedolske kulture / Vučedol culture museum, jedan od najsuvremenijih muzeja u zemlji u kojem možete saznati puno više o fascinantnoj Vučedolskoj kulturi. 🏢

Photo flight above the Kornati Islands, Croatia. The Kornati archipelago off the Croatian Adriatic coast is a submerged mountain range, whose summits rise above the sea level as islands. Some 18,000 years ago, at the height of the last Ice Age, when large amounts of water were retained in the glaciers at the poles, the global sea level was some 100 to 120 metres lower than it is today – and the Kornati were dry land. When the ice around the poles melted, the water level rose. Today all 152 large and small islands form the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean.
