Over the past few weeks, Lunar Program has been bustling with activity, providing invaluable resources and guidance to the startups. 🌟

Let’s summarize them:

📚 We conducted a series of dynamic seminars to enhance the startups’ knowledge and skills. These workshops, including Sales/Marketing strategy, Startup Legal workshop, Go-to-market strategy, and Pitch development, aimed to equip the teams with the expertise they need to build a successful business.

💼 We strongly believe in the power of collaboration and mentorship. That's why we facilitated weekly check-ins with dedicated mentors from the Lunar Program. Our mentors, with their vast industry experience, provided valuable insights and guidance to the teams, helping them navigate challenges and maximize opportunities.

📊 To ensure our startups stay on track and make progress, we established bi-weekly team status updates as well.

🔥 Investor questions can be tough, but preparation is key! To help the startups ace their Demo Day presentations, we organized Pre-Demo Day roast sessions. During these sessions, teams were sent uncomfortable questions to answer within a tight 30-minute timeframe.

Last week, we welcomed our second group of teams into our pre-accelerator, called Launchpad. 🙌

They took part in our Incubator, namely Creative Concept Design and Designing a Business, where they defined their problem, made several research, created tons of prototype and tests, until they came up with a fitted solution.

With their ready-to-go idea, they will continue working on executing their plans and entering the market with their MVP over the next 7 months by receiving feedbacks and validation from experienced startuppers and experts.

After these months, they will have the chance to present their company’s “a-ha” moment, the team formation, and first milestones such as an MVP, first customers, or revenue in front of investors with the help of expert presentation designers. 🗣

Startup HR: What’s important?🧐

According to “bambooHR”, many businesses fail 23 percent of the time because they don’t have the right people working on their team. A solid HR solution for startups can solve this problem.

But when is the right time to hire an HR person? 💼

There is no “ideal time” to hire an HR professional, neither is there a one-size-fits-all approach for HR requirements for small business. Rather, the founders should check their workload and look around to examine the common HR challenges.

Let’s say you have one person or an entire department regarding HR tasks. What are they responsible for?

🔹Hiring:

🔸Managing your startup hiring pipeline and keeping candidates moving through each phase of the hiring process.

🔸Creating a hiring plan managing the interviews during the onsite.

🔹Onboarding process:

🔸Outlining a clear onboarding process from when a candidate accepts an offer to joining your company.

🔸Creating an “Onboarding Guide”, that contains all the need-to-know items such as internal tools the team uses, e.g., Slack channel, folders, etc.

🔹Firing:

🔸Last but definitely not least: In small businesses where employees are close, firing can be more difficult and uncomfortable. However, keeping toxic employees will hurt your company and ignoring the problem won’t make it go away.

Last month, our startups had the chance to take part in our Law workshops, which were held by dr. László Bóné and dr. Péter Homoki.

These two workshops were pretty eye-opening and detailed in many different ways, hence we could just hope to sum it up for you guys. 👀

To start and build a startup, you need to concentrate on different topics equally, even if you do not fancy one or two. Law can be pretty interesting, but for founders or CEOs, it can be one of the many things they have to get down with to run smoothly. 🧐

Therefore, you need a good startup lawyer, that can help you with it.

So let’s jump into it and see everything you need to know about Startup Lawyers in a nutshell. 👇

What do they do?

They can help a startup start and scale a business, and also cen help with registering and protecting intellectual property, reviewing leasing and partnership agreements and dealing with disputes.

When should you hire one? 🧑‍⚖️

Well, besides an accountant, a lawyer should be your other option early on. We could say hire one as soon as possible.

They could provide you with the documents needed to start a company, such as consent to act as director, application for shares, director and member resolutions or company constitution.

What differs them from other lawyers? 💼

Because as you know law is pretty diverse and complex. The main areas of this field that your business will engage with are:

Contracts, business structuring, intellectual property, etc. So you should seek lawyers that have experience in these examples.

To help you find a lawyer that is right for you, ask yourself the following questions:

🔹Do I like this person?

🔹Do I feel comfortable working with this person?

🔹Does this lawyer provide flexible billing options?

Before you jump into selecting the best lawyer for your business, be brave to ask different lawyers for referrals. 💬

But what is product-market fit and why is it important?

According to entrepreneur and investor Marc Andreessen:

“Product - market fit means being in a good market with a product that can satisfy that market.” 👀

Some companies can get this straightaway because they focus on research, internalize their target group’s needs, and develop their products accordingly.

But do not be anxious because you do not have it yet. It takes time and several tries to get.

To reach a good product-market fit, you need to look at your business from these three perspectives:

🔹The size of the target market: Is the market for which you’ve chosen to build your product/service large enough to sustain your business?

🔹The needs of the market: What is the problem you need to solve for your audience?

🔹The product: Does what you’ve built satisfy your customers’ needs well enough to win their loyalty?

If any of these areas are lacking, take a step back and consider working on them from the scratch.

How to measure your success? 📈

It is not a simple task to tell if your product has reached its market, but you can use plenty of methods to measure your success and see how you and your product do, for example:

🔸Talk to your audience: if they think your product is okay, then it means it is not as interesting as you may think, but if they are really enthusiastic about it, then you are doing great.

🔸NPS: because people are usually nice, they will give you a higher score even if they dislike your product. Hence, below 7 means they are not that likely to recommend your product.

Alright but who is responsible for product-market fit?

Well, if it was a game, you would instantly say: sales or marketing.

In reality, achieving product-market fit is a shared responsibility across the company. 🤝

What is product development?🧐

For a simple answer, we could say: that product development gathers everything from brainstorming your concept to strategically planning, building, releasing it to market, and then measuring its success.

There is much more behind this statement, so let’s look at it.

But before we start, we would like to thank Csaba Kárpáti, Group Manager at Yettel Hungary for accepting our invitation to present in front of our teams about his experience on this matter.🙌

How to start your process of PD?

First, we need to define the differences between the prototype, the MVP, and the final product.

🔹 The prototype is a mockup, non-working product including one or two features of the planned product mainly for testing to gather feedback.

🔹 MVP is a minimal functioning product that can be released to the customer with 1-2 primary customer-requested features.

🔹While the final product is a live product, including customer-requested features, ready for further growth.

After you are clear about the status of your product, you could start thinking of methodologies like strict waterfall processes, or a more iterative approach based on agile method.

How can you tell which method will help you grow more?📈

🔸Waterfall contains linear steps and closed phases that rarely get reopened. As we mentioned earlier, it has very strict timing and is more suitable for one extensive project than small ones. With this method, the requirement is set, and the testing phase will start at the end of this process.

🔸The agile method is quite the opposite. It contains rapid changes because of the constantly changing market, hence it is more trendy than ever. It needs a lot of testing during its development, therefore it is much more suitable for minor projects than one big.

As everything has its own stages, you need to follow to reach your final product:

✔️define goals and initiatives

✔️capture and refine your ideas

✔️build a roadmap and estimate your product value

✔️showcase your idea with the help of your roadmap

✔️shift your focus from planning to building

✔️launch your idea

✔️measure its success

That is why we have organized our second Startup Matchmaking event on the 5th of May, where existing and future startuppers could share their experiences and needs and find their missing competencies. ✅

In the first part of the evening, we had two presenters we would like to thank for accepting our invitation.

First was Jankó Dániel, co-CEO and co-founder of Lunar Program, who briefly presented our program to the guests.

The second was Liptak Milan, co-founder of TeachiziHungary , who shared their way of bringing Teachizi from France to Hungary and how Lunar Program helped with their process.

At Lunar Program we just had our second stop in our Launchpad Workshop for our startups. 👀

With the help of Cluedit and Salesforce, we had a great event where we discussed the importance of a well-defined digital strategy.

We talked about how to build a customer's first CRM system step by step, with capabilities to scale up and cover the whole customer lifecycle (marketing, sales, and customer service), providing the best possible experience from their very first customer interactions. 👥

During a full demo of Salesforce Essentials, we learned:

- how to leverage data in the CRM for data-driven decisions

- how to gain a 360 view of the customers with a trusted platform

- how to automate business processes to make sure everyone can focus on things that matter

- how to track and measure KPI’s to make sure we are on the right track

After the demo, Cluedit also led an interactive workshop, where they showed:

- Best Practises

- Basic customization options

- first steps of using Salesforce Essentials
