Széchenyi Bath
The Széchenyi Spa is one of the largest thermal spa complexes in Europe, and its outdoor pool, steaming on winter nights, is a world-famous symbol of Budapest with its jovial old men playing chess in the water. The bath in Városliget was built in the 20th century. It was built at the beginning of the century in neo-baroque style. Among the locals, Széchenyi is the most popular spa due to its size and variety of services. Many indoor and outdoor pools, thermal and wellness areas (steam cabin, sauna), health care, medical treatments, fitness and a wide range of other services await those who want to relax. The outdoor pool is open even in winter, so you can enjoy the hot water even at -10 degrees. Nowadays, it is becoming more and more popular among foreigners as well - be it summer or winter, a visit to the Széchenyi bath is an essential part of the program for city visits in Budapest.

St. Gellért Spa and Swimming Pool
Gellért is the most famous historical bath, which was built in the 20th century. opened its doors at the beginning of the 20th century in Buda, between Gellért Hill and the Freedom Bridge. The magnificent, art-nouveau-style spa is part of the Gellért Hotel, which was an icon of the capital's hotels for almost a hundred years, and although it has lost much of its luster, it is still a symbol of affluence and comfort. It acquired its current Art Nouveau form in 1918, and in 2008 it underwent a complete renovation.
The spa has several indoor thermal pools and swimming pools, as well as a large outdoor experience pool and an outdoor wave pool. In addition to a relaxing bath, the complex also offers medical treatments, as well as beauty treatments, a sauna, a steam bath, a sun terrace, massage parlors, a dentist's office and other services for guests who want to refresh themselves. We can choose from different packages, be it a two-day or even two-week full-scale medical treatment.

Gellért Hill stands out from the Buda skyline at a height of 235 meters as the jewel of Budapest. It will be connected by the Elizabeth Bridge and the Freedom Bridge, the I. and XI. district shares it. It is a popular destination among tourists, as it is easily accessible from the city center, and from the rock wall facing the Danube or from the Citadella on the top of the mountain, a wonderful panorama opens up before us - it is no coincidence that the mountain has been part of the world heritage since 1987. Among its iconic points is the Szent Iván Cave, which hides the St. Gellért Rock Church, but for hikers looking for more hidden sights, we would recommend the Philosophers' Garden, where you can find statues of Buddha and Jesus Christ under the shady trees, but you can also witness the meeting of the Prince of Buda and the Princess of Pest.
You can go up the mountain from two sides, from the Erzsébet bridge you can start next to the waterfall that works in the summer, while from the Gellért Baths a less steep but slightly longer path awaits us. If you choose the latter direction towards the top, you can also rest at a smaller slide park if you are with children (or if you just like slides). The mountain also has other excitements for the little ones: here we can find one of the most popular representatives of the thematic playgrounds, the Vuk message board with popular characters from the cartoon, and the Cerka-firka playground, which we recommend because of the green environment and zero car noise.

Gül Baba's tomb and Rózsakert are located not far from the Buda bridgehead of Margaret Bridge, an important Muslim memorial and popular date spot. In 1541, baby Gül came to Budapest with the Turkish army to found a Muslim monastery, but this failed due to his death. His grave today is a place of pilgrimage and one of the best parks in Budapest, which was renovated in 2018. It also has its own exhibition space, teahouse and conference rooms. The Turkish cemetery is evoked with 12 replica tombstones, but the stepped rose garden and lavender garden are also a beautiful sight. Sitting in the park is not only a pleasant pastime for couples in love, we strongly recommend it to everyone who wants to relax outdoors and away from the noise of the city.

Budapest Pumpkin Lantern Festival 2023
A spectacular charity Halloween celebration awaits everyone at Hősök Square on October 28 from 7 p.m. The goal is to fill the space with as many pumpkin lanterns as possible. Therefore, the organizers encourage all interested parties to bring their home-made creations and then light the lights together at the same time. In addition, those who have the opportunity are also expected to bring some non-perishable food with them, because the festive event is also a charity fundraiser for the Children's Nutrition Foundation.

These will be the festive programs on October 23 in the capital.
On the commemoration day of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle, on Monday, the Parliament and the House of Terror Museum will welcome visitors with several exhibitions, there will be light painting, candle lighting, and a non-protocol commemoration at plot 301. The program of the Independence Day in the capital begins with a ceremonial flag raising on October 23 at Kossuth Lajos Square. On Mondays, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., as part of the visit of the Holy Crown to the Parliament, those interested can view the staircase, the dome hall, the Holy Crown, and the exhibits of the Parliament Museum: the exhibition A Thousand Years of Hungarian Legislation, which can be accessed from the visitor center, and In memoriam 1956 on Kossuth Square October 25 memorial site and exhibition, as well as the stone warehouse and the Csepel truck also on display at Kossuth Square.
Between four in the afternoon and eleven in the evening, there will be light painting at several locations, such as the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, building K of the Budapest University of Technology, and the House of Terror Museum.
The House of Terror Museum can be visited for free (between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.), and there will be an all-day non-protocol candle-lighting ceremony at the Wall of Heroes. In addition to the museum's permanent exhibition, visitors can view the new temporary exhibition "A great crime requires a great idea" of the works of artist and painter Sam Havadtoy.
You can't just walk past the Castle Garden Bazar: the neo-Renaissance garden on the side of the Castle Hill was built between 1875 and 1883 according to the plans of one of the greatest Hungarian architects, Miklós Ybl. It once included a wonderful ornamental garden, gloriette, ornamental fountains, grottoes and bodyguards' houses, later the cult entertainment center of the youth of socialism, the Youth Park, operated here. After it closed, we had to wait until 2014 for its renovation, but today we can enjoy it again in its old glory: we can walk among flower beds, dine in cool restaurants, go to museums, events, even yoga, fairs and concerts. An escalator also makes it easier to get up to Buda Castle.

The Renoir exhibition in the Fine Arts opens earlier on weekends.
Almost 50,000 people have already seen the Renoir - The painter and his models exhibition, which opened at the end of September at the Museum of Fine Arts. In view of the great interest, the museum opens its doors to visitors one hour earlier on weekends, at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. The public can see almost 70 works of the French master at the large-scale exhibition on display until the beginning of January.
The exhibition focusing on Renoir's depictions of people was realized in collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris, but the Museum of Fine Arts borrowed artefacts from more than twenty foreign public collections for the exhibition. At the exhibition, the public can see such major works as The Swing, Country Dance or Claude Renoir in Clown Costume. The first exhibition in Hungary dedicated to the painter - in which the almost thirty Renoir works preserved in the Fine Arts Museum also have a prominent role - presents the artist's development in a chronological and thematic arrangement.
All three versions of Renoir's Reclining Female N**e (Gabrielle), made between 1903 and 1907, were exhibited together for the first time at the popular exhibition, of which the first painted masterpiece became the property of the Museum of Fine Arts in 2019, through a purchase of historical importance to the collection.

Lumina Park opens a new light exhibition, celebrating the 150-year-old Budapest
If you are after a unique attraction in Budapest anytime between 19 October and 4 March 2024, Lumina Park will surely cut the mustard. Opening its gates after sunset, this magical multimedia exhibition is guiding you through a 1.5-kilometre-long route. Setting off on a journey, you'll meander along thematic light installations, which evoke and celebrate different eras of Budapest's past. See what to expect!
Once the sun sets, pack a camera (and some extra layers) and make your way to Margaret Island's Palatinus Open-air Baths. Here, at the newly opened Lumina Park, you can set off on a light-filled journey through Budapest's history. The spectacular light exhibition transformed the Baths into a fairytale land, with multimedia installations evoking significant periods from the Roman Aquincum to the rebellious rock era. You can catch sight of the city's iconic landmarks, such as the Chain Bridge or the Parliament, witness a scene from a water polo game, and spot a gigantic version of the Hungarian invention Rubik's Cube.
In the meantime, a bonus light exhibition is getting ready to open for the winter season, showering us with Christmas spirit. Nestling into the 7-hectare park of Római Baths, Lumina Christmas Park is set to open on 10 November (and can be visited until 15 January 2024).
