In an attempt to redefine the agricultural way of life and elevate the perception of farming to the youth the Bindu Healing Center (BHC) is a model of land preservation based on permaculture principles. Bali’s beautiful rice paddies are loved the world over and are an icon of what we imagine a tropical paradise looks like, but few tourists really understand what they represent in terms of the Bali
The village of Bindu spent Earth Day caring for Mother Earth with a trash walk through their beautiful rice paddies. Today we celebrated this tiny village’s commitment to preserving their land for the future generations!
We’ve had some amazing visitors to Bindu - connection is wonderful! Penny Livingston (renowned permaculturalist) and Ida Rahyu (green school teacher) who is pioneering a garden to table project in local Indonesian schools ! Of course the long beans are always a welcome visitor too proudly shown by our plant whisperer Pak Lana!

Selamat tahun baru and almost happy Chinese New Year!
Lots of things happening at Bindu. This week we’ll welcome the Green School high school class as they explore seed starting through our medicinal garden. Nature is the best teacher.
Contact us for a visit or a trek!
Our mangkok rice is growing beautifully this time under Pak Freddy’s watchful guidance from Tri hita karana and Pak Lana’s assistance. Bindu continues to be a model for other farmers in converting conventional pesticide grown rice into value added crops grown without chemicals. Please come visit to see this land regenerating!
One of my most favorite places in Bali.
Bindu is bursting with abundance! Rosella, bokasi, and our new distiller! Grateful to Johanes and Lana today for continuing to experiment with producing hydrosol.
With the eruption of Mt. Agung looming ahead of us, we're all thinking of what gifts we have to share with the people displaced and in danger. We are discussing how the medicinal garden at Bindu might contribute to providing much needed herbal remedies. Every effort makes a difference.

Gusti Kutut Mudua is the guardian of the Bindu land. The community believes that this magical place can cure all kinds of diseases. Stress, headaches, fatigue and rheumatic can be cured by having a walk on this sacred land. More serious conditions are guided by Gusti. Numerous local Balinese people take advantage of healing on offer. People also visit Bindu and Gusti from all over Bali. Foreign travellers also often utilise the area as a space of meditation. Gusti believes the land has immense healing powers. The area has been used for healing since 1800’s. However, for about three generations, the tradition was lost. Gusti was asked to work as a medium, he was told to continue the heritage as a healer. He also inherited Lontar manuscripts which detail ethics for traditional healing. His aim is to preserve the estate as an area for mental and physical healing.
Shortly, we will posting our programme of education classes and workshops. We will be covering a range of topics such as: Balinese ceremonies, Global rituals/ceremonies, Black magic, White magic, Lontars, Food and cooking, Bamboo building construction, Fire purification, Permaculture, Pranayama, Chakras, Crystals and crystal tonics, Healing codes, Medicinal gardening, Commons themes across all religions, LOVE not fear, Jamu, Food medicine, Raw food, Herbal walks and treks, Self healing, Happiness, Meditation and Yoga.
Tell us what you think or if we have missed something.
Our beautiful hope for a small and sustainable way for the Balinese landowners and community to share their culture and land has manifested! A wonderful group of French culture seekers from Amanaska Bali enjoyed trekking on the land, a blessing from Pak Gusti Balian and rice planting. Afterwards they were treated to lunch at Pak Gusti's traditional home prepared lovingly by Ibu Ayu.
Also a special thanks to the research and development staff from the fabulous restaurant in Ubud, "Room for Dessert" who joined to help us at Bindu. Will Goldfarb we are grateful for your commitment to sourcing locally and contributing to such new and inventive ways to utilize local ingredients in your menu. www.room4dessert.asia
So much is happening at BINDU! The medicinal herb garden is partially planted (and watered thanks to Mother Nature) and the decision has been made by the wonderful Balinese owner to convert the conventional rice at Bindu to Mangkok rice. Mangkok is a heritage rice with much higher nutritional value, a delicious taste and very very importantly it is grown without the use of the soil depleting chemicals used with conventional rice! Pak Chakra from Tri Hita Karana and his team taught us so much about the process of growing Mangkok rice. Who knew it took eggs to isolate the "super seeds"?? Sound interesting? Join us this Saturday morning (July 16th) at Bindu to plant the new Mangkok seedlings!
Please join us this Thursday, June 23rd, at 8:30 AM to help us plant the inner circle of our beautiful medicinal herb garden designed and implemented by Tri Hita Karana. Bring your gloves and a hat, we'll provide water and ginger tea. It'll be a joyous event to replenish Mother Earth!
We've been trying to coordinate the planting of the medicinal garden at Bindu, to bring back some of the traditional plants that would have been used in past generations. Well it came together at the last minute and we'll be planting tomorrow (Sunday June 5th) at 10:00 AM! We'd love to have volunteers!! Also Kang Dickey (see previous posts) will be installing some of his alternative energy generators. What an incredible day it will be!
