Bucephalandra Mini Kapuas
Common Name: Bucephalandra Mini Kapuas
This decorative, small-medium and narrow-leaved. Bucephalandra variant is produced in an Indonesian water plant nursery under the trading name " Mini Kapuas", apparently referring to the Kapuas region in West Kalimantan. However its species belonging is unknown to us, but well as all Bucephalandras, it originates from Borneo island, growing as a rheophyte (adapted to strong current) on rock in the flood zone of rainforest streams. Bucephalandra sp. "Mini Kapuas" has oblanceolate, about 5 cm long, dark-green leaves with red-brown stalks on a strong rhizome.
Bucephalandra species and forms are primarily epiphytes on rock or wood where they attach themselves by their roots. They can also be fixed to the bottom, however the rhizome must not be buried to avoid rotting. The plant will root on its own and benefit from the nutrients in the substrate. The growth is generally slow to very slow.
Bucephalandras cope with poor light conditions, however they develop their most beautiful look with medium lighting, good water current and constant nutrient and CO2 supply. They also tolerate strong lighting, sufficient CO2 and nutrient supply provided. The favourable temperature range is about 20 to 27Β°C.
We recommend to put Bucephalandras into already cycled aquariums. It is best to leave the plants in peace so they can grow. Sudden changes of parameters may lead to shedding of leaves, normally, however, the plants regrow slowly and produce new shoots on the rhizome. Bucephalandras are easily propagated by cutting terminal and side shoots that also promotes the ramification of the plant.

Bucephalandra Melrose
Common Name: Bucephalandra Melrose
Is a rhizome aquatic plant from the Araceae family found in fast flowing rivers, very similar to Anubias and Cryptocorynes.
Bucephalandras can grow anchored to wood, roots and objects intended for reproduction such as stainless steel or ceramic meshes. The root system of these plants develops best on hard surfaces like rocks, for example (volcanic rock is a good option). The roots adhere strongly to virtually any surface.
Because Bucephalandras grow slowly, Green spot algae can be a common problem, which can limit access to light and also slow down the growth rate of the plant.
Bucephalandras are RiΓ³fitas type (plants that like fast currents), we must mention that we will need to provide similar conditions in our aquariums in order to achieve the best results with these plants.
To guarantee a good coloration, strong lighting recommended and add nutrients to the water column. Small amounts of CO2 and fertilizer can help the plant to show more attractive colors.

Bucephalandra Lakar
Bucephandra Sp Lakar is a great choice for Buce enthusiasts! Bucephalandra sp Lakar features small green leaves that are slightly rounded, almost like Anubias plants. Like other forms of Bucephalandra, this aquarium plant is a great choice for beginners due to its hardy and undemanding nature. Buce works well as a midground choice in planted tanks and does best when attached to aquarium hardscapes such as stones and aquarium driftwood. Low light and clean water are the bare minimum for this species and if given additional care such as CO2 injection and a regular dosing schedule, this aquarium plant will grow at a quicker pace as Bucephalandra are known for their slow-growing habits. Care for bucephalandra is similar to Anubias, Cryptocoryne and Java Ferns!

Bucephalandra Hulu Boyan
Common Name: Bucephalandra Holu Boyan
Buce Holu Boyan is an easy plant, perfect for beginners. It can be grown submerged or immersed. The plant is very slow growing, with new leaves sprouting from long, thin rhizomes. It can be propagated by cutting the rhizome and attached to driftwood and rocks using super glue gel or thread.
Even with only minimal amounts of light, Bucephalandras will continue to grow and will still produce new leaves, but the color of the plant is usually not as eye-catching.
To ensure good coloration, stronger lighting is required (0.5W per litter or more), and additional fertilizing through the water column is beneficial. Even small amounts of CO2 and fertilizer can help the plant display attractive colors. I have noticed that certain fertilizers can help improve the color of the leaves. Additionally, through my exchanging of plants with many aquarists who have βlow-techβ aquariums, I was informed that the new leaves of the plants grown in their tanks are not as colorful because there is less light and not as many fertilizers for the plants to use.
The evolution of color in Bucephalandra βHulu Boyanβ:
Green leaves are prevalent when grown in emersed conditions (on land). The green leaves near the bottom of the stem still remain from when the plant was grown out of water, while the new darker leaves near the tip are a result of having been grown under water in aquarium.
Bucephalandrass can also be grown in paludariums, but the coloration of the leaves tends to be weaker, and the leaves tend to be less elastic as well. They must be provided with high humidity in order to thrive in such environments, otherwise the leaves can dry out.
Family Name: Araceae
Type: Epiphyte
pH: 6.5-7.5
Care: Easy, low maintenance
Light: Low to medium
CO2: not required or +/-30ppm will promote faster growth
Propagation: rhizome division
Growth rate: slow, faster under higher lighting (may cause algae)
Growth state: emersed or submerge

Bucephalandra Boyan
Common Name : Bucephalandra Boyan
Bucephalandra Boyan is an easy plant, perfect for beginners. It can be grown submerged or immersed. The plant is very slow growing, with small elongate-ovate leaves, the leaf edge is more or less wavy. The stomata on the dark coloured leaves are visible as silver dots. This plant can be propagated by cutting the rhizome and attached to driftwood and rocks.
Bucephalandra is an epiphytic aquarium plant so it can be attached to aquarium hardscape. Do not plant Bucephalandra in substrate and cover the rhizome. This will cause it to melt and rot. To achieve maximum colouration and growth, water column dosing is recommended.

Bucephalandra Henky Big Clump
Family Name: Araceae

pH: 6.5-7.5
Care: Easy, low maintenance
Light: Low to medium
CO2: not required or +/-30ppm will promote faster growth
Propagation: rhizome division
Growth rate: slow, faster under higher lighting (may cause algae)
Growth state: emersed or submerge
Bucephalandra species do better in stable tanks with matured biological systems. Especially when facing transport stress or stress from being moved between tanks of different parameters, having cool, clean water, and supplementary CO2 is important to prevent melting.
Bucephalandra are hardy plants that can survive in planted tanks without CO2 injection or much fertilization. However, to grow them to their best, they do better with good flow and CO2. Having good growth parameters also make them much more resistant to algae.
Most emersed Buceps have green leaves even when their submerged forms have far more color. In this picture, we show a batch of recently emersed leaves are green in color. Depending on the tank parameters, the newly submerged plants may sacrifice some of the older emersed growth, while the younger emersed grown leaves fully convert to submerged growth forms. This conversion process can be stressful for the plant - if tank conditions are poor, this can lead to wide-spread melting and excessive loss of existing leaves.

Bucephalandra Hargreen
Bucephalandra sp. "Hargreen" is a relatively small, fascinating Bucephalandra variant which is quite long known but still rare in the hobby. We have been cultivating Bucephalandra sp. "Hargreen" for more than three years in our farms. The longish, arching leaves with rippled margin grow to a length of around 4 - 5,5 cm and to a width of 0.8 - 1,2 cm. The leaf stalk is about 0,6 - 1 cm long. The upper side of the leaf is dark brown to green with a blueish shine and a lot of tiny silvery dots. The leaf underside is of a silvery white to pale purple. The rhizome tips and the young leaf stalks are wine red. The rhizome has a creeping to ascending growth habit and branches readily. Thus the plant will grow into a large group over time. In the aquarium it flowers only very seldom.
In comparison with other Bucephalandra variants, "Hargreen" is a rather "medium" grower. It does not have high demands, but under medium to high light and a good CO2 supply and ample nutrient levels it is the most beautiful. I is best tied to rock or driftwood where it attaches itself by its roots.
In our opinion, Bucephalandra sp. "Hargreen" is one of the be most suitable and also most beautiful Bucephalandras for aquariums. It is versatile and looks best as a larger clump of many shoots on the hardscape.
