A positioning statement makes it easy to build all your public-facing messaging.
From your verbal and visual identities to your sonic identity.
It’s an evolving tool that will influence your communication.
And close the gap between perception and performance.

Though they seem alike, they're different.
• Purpose statement
Explains the reason you exist beyond making money
• Vision statement
Explains what you want to achieve in 5-20 years
• Mission statement
Explains the actions you will take to achieve your vision
• Positioning statement
Explains what you do, for who, and how you’re different
• Unique value proposition
Explains the benefit a customer receives from your product/service
• Unique selling proposition
Explains the thing you do differently or better than your competitors
Remember these differences to write the most appropriate brand statement.

Statements developed during your brand strategy may sound alike but have different functions. 👇🏽
• Purpose – the reason you exist beyond making money
• Vision – the future you want to achieve in 5-20 yrs
• Mission – the actions you take to create the future you want
• Positioning – how you differentiate from competitors in consumers’ minds
• Unique value proposition - highlights the benefit a customer receives from your product
• Unique selling proposition - what you do different or better than your competitors

The key to a deep connection with your audience is a verbal identity that works in tandem with a visual one.
I'm not saying to ignore competitor analysis, this is essential to developing a strong positioning.
However, constantly looking at what your competitor is doing will influence your actions and overtime you'll become more like them.
Speaking from experience, when you know more about what your competitor is doing than you know about what your audience is doing you become a me-too brand.
Instead, focus on your audience and learn to think like them. It's their preferences and priorities that drive change.
