This batik pattern is called Sekar Jagad. It comes from Yogyakarta. In old Javanese literature, “sekar jagad” means “beauty”. Whoever wears this batik (usually woman), hope that her beauty will shine by wearing this batik pattern.

Initially, not everyone is allowed to wear this pattern, because it was intended only to be used by the Sultan and his family. But then that policy was removed, so everybody can wear batik pattern.
