Practicing for better balance is important for us at any age. With better balance we avoid falls which can lead to injuries & a serious decline in overall health. Many things happen when we gradually age. •Less acuity in nervous system(which manifests as slower response time reduced coordination, reduced sensory and motor efficiency and cognitive decline) •Loss of muscle strength •Stiffing of the connective tissues •Loss of bone density…. etc Poor balance resulting from all of the above. Fall preventing also must include all of these elements of balancing: strength, flexibility and coordination. And bonus is that when we develop these skills, we contribute to our agility. Probably you heard me talking in the class about the purpose and the “whys” we do what we do in our lives. This is the WHY we do what we do in our classes. Its not always easy. But magic happens only when we are out of our comfort zone. 🌟 And those who are long time goers to my classes hope you recall saying “no way we can do warrior III”. Vinyasa flow class at a time can be challenging but this is the best way to get out of head and into your body, right? We build up to sequences slowly and as well with loads of repetition as a lot of time classes consists of ladder flows. I have an active brain 😵💫 And when it feels a bit overloaded, I find the best thing to do is not to deal with the brain but go into the body. We have cognitive mental therapies that we do to calm ourselves. And we also can use our body as a doorway to relax the mind ✨ My evening mindful yoga class @6:30 is full so I am offering one more morning class on Tuesday @9:30am. Some FACTS * In one study conducted in 2005 it was found that 58.4% of yoga students started yoga for the primary purpose of reducing their stress and anxiety. What's even cooler is that 79.4% of those same students, CONTINUED practicing yoga because it was so effective in helping them manage their stress and anxiety. * Yoga offers a safe way to balance the out-of-balance nervous system. Let me share a practice with you that I do daily when I need to ground myself, to calm my mind and enhance some positivity. I love any breathing practice and the one I am sharing is very easy accessible to anyone. ** COHERENT BREATHING for stress and anxiety relief; to cultivate positive emotional health. ** Coherent Breathing is very simple technique. 1)We are asked to inhale slowly through the nose, letting our bellies, side and the back of the ribcage to expand, then exhale for the same length of time. What give this breathing practice positive mood-impacting power is that to practice it fully, we need to slow our breaths down to taking just 5 breaths per minute, i.e. inhale 6s and exhale 6s (normally we do 12-16 breaths per minute). 2) If 5 breaths per minute is too slow, then work up to this count from wherever you are right now. That might mean starting with inhale to count of 2 and exhale the same count. Then work up gradually to increase the count. 3) At the beginning start with 5 minutes practice and gradually work up to 20min daily. *** Immediately you will notice that your mind feels calmer, less filles with chatter; your body feels more relaxed. *** Enjoy youw weekend lovely people 🥰 *
Mandala Namaskar: moving 360 degrees around the mat. ** Like practising Mandala Namaskar, moving 360 degrees around the mat. It’s always resonates with me, the practice of full circle. ** It is a powerful way to breath and move. Not to metion, it’s FUN. You can repeat circle as many times as you want. And btw, working in a circle helps to get our brain moving in a different way, to shake things up. ** It may sound like a big practice, but you’ll be amazed at how smooth and easy it flows.
