Mums for Nutrition
Nutritionist
You are setting yourself up for failure!
🤔But dreaming big can come with pitfalls. Mainly because you see here and you see there, but you don’t pay attention to the bits in between. And those are the HARD bits.
This could not be truer than for mums. You don’t have time for anything, so you want to hit your goals in the shortest amount of time possible. And why wouldn’t you.
⚠️But in doing so, you set unrealistic expectations on yourself. ⚠️
You fall into the trap of believing it is some failure on your part, in your personality or make-up, that is the root of your struggle.
Wanting fast results is normal. And the idea that it can be ‘easy’ if we just do ‘x, y and z’ is beyond temptation.
But I want you to stop. Consider all the ‘x, y and z’s’ you have done for years and you are still in the same spot.
When I work with clients, one of the first things I do is break everything down. We work together to see what will work for THEM. And it is under constant review. Because knowing when something is NOT working, and CHOOSING to change it, that is POWER.
intuitiveeatingtips
Ever wondered why your path to food confidence seems so convoluted and windy??
Because it is supposed to. 🤷♀️
I get why you expect it to be more straightforward. Social media, and some spectacular advertising by the diet industry, have led you to believe that if you just do 🅰️ you will get to 🅱️. And when that doesn’t happen, you get frustrated. You believe there is something wrong with you.
I want to be the first to reassure you that when your journey goes all up and down, your highs are followed by the lows, it is NORMAL. You are unlearning years’ worth of food rules and restrictions.
⚠️That is NOT going to happen in a straight line. And you need to get ok with that. Or else the spiral of frustration and disappointment will be never ending. ⚠️
If your kid starts learning multiplication for the first time, there will be good homework days and bad. One day it all seems to click for them, only to feel like they are back at the start the next.
💡Learning anything new is a process.💡 And on those days where you feel like packing it in, you need to remember the end goal.
🎉Eating without guilt or shame.
🎉Finally allowing all the foods you love.
🎉Trusting yourself and your body.
🎉Have more energy.
🎉Living a life NOT dictated by the number on a scale.
Drop a 💖 if you struggle to keep going when things don’t quite go to plan. And hit that follow button to learn how to finally feel at ease with food.
Before you put a food back in the shelf because you believe it is ‘bad’ because it is ‘processed’, remember that a chopped apple is processed!
Attaching a word does nothing but fear monger and further promote the concept of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ food.
The truth is that there are so many other reasons we select a food;
👉🏻cost
👉🏻availability
👉🏻preference
👉🏻culture
Try focusing on what works for you and your family first. And then see what you can ADD that works too!
Do you tend to steer clear of ‘processed’ foods believing they are all ‘bad’ for you?? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!💕
I don’t know what mom needs to hear this, but what you eat matters less than how you feel when you eat!!
Yes, this goes against every piece of diet advice you have received in your life.
It will also feel counter-intuitive for most of you. Because ‘calories in v calories out’, ‘good’ food and ‘bad’ food and all these other rules have dictated what you eat for years.
🤔Consider this, you have followed all these boundaries and regulations, and yet you remain stuck!
But breaking free from the comfort of your discomfort can seem overwhelming. Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t right❓
Now I want you to consider trying just 1️⃣ of the suggestions above. See which appeals to you the most or scares you the least.
👉You see, if you eat when you are hungry, you will start to become in tune with your hunger cues.
👉If you slow down and eat without distractions, you will start to notice when you have had enough. Meaning you are going to overeat less.
Being stuck in the cycle of binge and restrict can be hard AF to break free from. But I can help you learn to trust your body and be confident in your food choices. I will meet you exactly where you are and hold your hand, step-by-step. 💞
Save this to remind you, and follow my link in bio to book a FREE chat.
So what does this mean?
How often have you eaten something that you didn’t truly enjoy because you thought it was what you ‘should’ eat❓
I am guessing more times that you care to admit.
What about eating something you really enjoyed, but because you believe you ‘shouldn’t’ have eaten it, that joy was stolen? Replaced by guilt or shame‼️
💥To achieve REAL satisfaction, you must factor in enjoyment.
How can we do this though without feeling completely out of control??
1️⃣Eat what you really want. 🤷♀️ Before you start rolling your eyes that this will lead to a full on binge, I want you to consider this ➡️➡️If you know there is a slice of your favourite cake available, doubling your salad portion at dinner won’t do anything! So, eat your salad with dinner, and then cut yourself a slice. And then do this ⬇️⬇️⬇️
2️⃣Savour every bite. Eat slowly. Take note of flavour and texture. By taking your time your body, and brain, can achieve ultimate enjoyment, making it much more likely you will walk away satisfied.
3️⃣Don’t wait until you are starving to eat. This will drive you to eat quickly, with 0 awareness of what you are eating. And that makes it much more likely you will finish looking for more food, despite having eaten enough.
A lack of joy from food after years of dieting can result in many unhealthy eating habits.
I remind my clients that they can and should enjoy their food. After all, if you love what you eat, you are going to stick with it long term!!
✨Follow the link in my bio✨ to read more about my Frustration to Freedom Programme. Rediscovering your love and passion for food is just around the corner!!💓
And I speak from personal experience. Because I was where you are now.
👉Flipping between restriction and loss of control.
👉Feeling like a failure if I couldn’t stick to a diet.
👉 Eating to the point of feeling awful or spending my day wanting to eat but believing I should’t.
🧱But about a year ago I hit a wall. I could no longer sustain what I was doing. My body and mind were equal parts broken and exhausted.
So, I made the decision to step away from dieting and focus on how my body felt, first and foremost.
The biggest lessons I learned❓❓
✅Until I learned to recognise my hunger and fullness cues I would never feel comfortable with food.
✅I had to let go of the idea of what I believed my body ‘should’ look like and embrace the size that was healthy for me.
✅I shifted focus from how I looked, or what I weighed, to how I FELT.
You could follow every meal or exercise plan out there to a T. But until you go deeper, your journey will continue in circles.
SAVE this post as a reminder for every time you feel yourself looking for that next diet, or magic fix. And remember, having support and guidance as you explore your relationship with food eases the burden greatly.💞
The world and its mother have an opinion on what you should eat. And that can get confusing AF.
And it is particularly bad online.
⛔One person is telling you to avoid carbs.
⛔Another saying up the carbs and drop the fat.
⛔Or my pet peeve, ditch all the sugar and processed foods.
I am surprised more of us aren’t walking around with whiplash the way ‘advice’ changes.
The most frustrating part of it all?
Choosing what to eat is the LEAST complicated part. 🤯
And while that feels like the biggest LIE you have ever heard, I promise you, here and now, that it is NOT.
It is the EMOTION attached to food that is the cause of your struggle.
And that is where I WILL HELP. Hit that follow button if you want food to just be another part of your day with no guilt, shame or anxiety attached. 💞💞
If there is one thing, I wish we could leave behind in 2022 its ditching the desserts!!
One of the first things so many of my clients say to me at our first consult is,
“But I don’t eat dessert!”. As if that defines whether they are ‘good’ or ‘healthy’‼️
And if I am honest, I don’t give a 💩 if they do or not.
How many times have you said,
- “Oh, I’m not eating dessert, I’m being good”
- “I am so bad for eating this”, or
- “I really shouldn’t”
Trying to improve your relationship with food by excluding all the foods you enjoy is going to be a short journey to sweet f***y adams. 🤷♀️
If you are READY to make 2023 the year you let go of the GUILT and make dessert part of your life again, follow the ✨link in my bio✨ to organise a FREE Discovery Call. (Or if that sounds a bit scary, we can chat in the DMs).
Which one have I missed!!!!
Working on your relationship with food is not easy.
But what is so much harder is spending the rest of your life feeling guilt and shame about what you eat.
And the expense criticising your body every day will have on your mental health.
The best thing you can do when you decide enough is enough is go in with your eyes wide open.
👉Know there will be challenges.
👉Know there will be moments that are uncomfortable.
👉Know that at times you will need to be more honest with yourself than you ever have before.
But in doing so know that;
👍You will find a newfound love for food.
👍You will realise the joy of special occasions and the food they involve.
👍You will find a freedom that lets you breath at last.
If you want support on this journey. To have a helping hand through the initial fear and unknown, ✨book a free Discovery Call TODAY✨.
I know it’s tempting, but at what point is enough enough⁉️⁉️
✅You deserve more.
✅Your weight does not define you.
✅Hitting your ‘goal weight’ will not bring you the happiness and confidence you believe it will.
Hit that FOLLOW button and let’s make 2023 the year food no longer controls you or your self-image. 💕💕
If you feel like you overindulged yesterday, the solution is more simple that you believe!!
The feelings of guilt that can hit after a day centred so strongly around food can feel overwhelming. 😞
Especially if you bargained with yourself yesterday. This can look like:
👉🏻I’ll eat this now, and I’ll be ‘good’ tomorrow!
👉🏻I made sure I was ‘good’ yesterday so I can eat what I want today!
👉🏻I’ll eat it all today so it’s not around tomorrow!
It may alleviate the guilt in the moment, but creates more stress and pressure the minute your eyes opened this morning.
And that is a fast track to losing control‼️
Instead focus on hydration. Eating regularly and getting so fresh air.
And before you tell me that won’t ‘undo’ yesterday, you have NOTHING to undo.🤯🤯
Eating, drinking and moving will improve mood, energy and help you feel in control. 💕
Hit that ❤️ button if you have post-Xmas guilt and SHARE to help other mums.
If you are so much as considering picking up another ‘new’ diet in the New Year, I want you to ask yourself this…
Why do you think this one will ‘work’❓
‼️Because despite what you tell yourself, they are all built on the same principle.
⛔️restriction
⛔️shame
⛔️guilt
And ain’t nobody got time or interest in that roundabout.
It is hard to see past the potential ‘results’, I get that. 💕
But you deserve more.
👍🏻more happiness
👍🏻more confidence
👍🏻more self-belief
And you can have that and more. You might not see it. You might not believe it.
But I do. With a strength that burns my ass!!
Don’t make this year the year you ‘finally lose weight’. Or ‘finally have willpower’.
Make it the year you finally do something different. Something that builds you up, not tears you down.
Now go ✨share the s**t out of this✨to encourage every mum you know to put herself first. 😘😘
Stepping away from weight-loss goals will benefit your mental and physical health.
Your relationship with food, and your body, should always take priority. 💕💕
Do you know how this statement always made me feel??
Like a failure‼️
It gave the impression that if I could not do this ‘simple’ thing there was something inherently wrong with me.
I mean they make it sound so easy.
And when it doesn’t work, you end up believing that you don’t have the,
😔Willpower
😔Self-control
😔or Capability
To achieve your goals.
I am here to tell you, it is BU****IT!!
There are so many factors at play. And failing at a diet is not a negative reflection on you. Those suckers are designed to fail.
So, if you want help healing your relationship with food. To start feeling confident in not only your food choices, but also your ability, hit that FOLLOW button.
Because from one mom to another, you deserve to go through life without guilt or shame about eating. 😘😘
My anxiety has been creeping up the last few weeks.
I feel like I have been paddling so hard and the current keeps pulling me back, no matter what I do.
The logical part of my brain knows this is so common this time of year.
But my mom brain just keeps pointing out what I’m doing wrong.
There is so much to do for everyone else that I am completely lost in the mix. Some days you forget who you are.
There is no big revelation to this post. No nugget of wisdom.
Just the hope that even one other mom can feel a little less alone. That we can all realise that doing the best we can is enough for now💕
You don’t always have to be moving towards something!
👌It is perfectly ok to just be.
To take a step back from constantly rushing towards a goal and take time to just be where you are.
Or take the time you need to discover what you really want!
Drop a 👍🏻 below if you always feel like you are running towards something.
No, I have no idea why I am repeatedly pointing at the camera with a weird facial expression at the end!😆😆 (I have 0 rhythm and that was the least obnoxious I looked after 10 takes 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️)
Listen up, you could be following a fitness models template for ‘perfect’ eating. But if that s**t leaves you;
👉🏻thinking about food 24/7
👉🏻unsatisfied after every meal
👉🏻lethargic
👉🏻or avoiding every food you love
‼️ITS NOT WORKING FOR YOU‼️
Food is something that is meant to support your life, body and wellbeing. NOT dictate every part of your day, mood, or happiness.
No matter how much weight you maybe or possibly could lose, or have lost, sticking to it, it simply WON’T be worth it.
So what do you do❓
Look at what didn’t work this year. It isn’t failure, only information. It is data that can help guide future changes.
And don’t ever forget to reach out for help!
Share this to help other mums like you figure out what is and is not working for them. 💕
**kdiets
Are you weighed down by the mental load of failed diets?
The guilt, shame and confusion that comes with ‘failing’ is a heavy burden to carry, especially on your own. 😔
You’re a mum. You are busy. Your lifestyle and schedule are hectic and you are so damn tired trying to work out how you can have:
👉more willpower
👉a ‘faster’ metabolism
👉more self-control
Because that is what you have believed for years is the root of your ‘problem’.
📢Asking for help will be the ‘aha’ moment you have been searching for. 📢
You see, you don’t lack the willpower, the commitment, or the ability. But you do lack the knowledge and skills. And that is not your fault. There is so much misinformation available these days, it is no wonder you are confused‼️
There is no shame in signing up for extra classes to gain help for your career or education. Why should your eating habits be any different?
Scheduling a ✨Nutrition Power Hour✨ with me before 2023 hits means you will be entering the New a year with knowledge and confidence. Send me a DM to book in TODAY.

❓Can you see yourself sticking with them long term?

Check out my live this morning with where we have a fun discussion about what food, family and motherhood looks like for me!!
If you want some super simple tips on how to feel more in control around food this Christmas, comment YES and I will send you a copy of my ‘How to avoid Overeating this Christmas’ guide!!
You deserve to enjoy your food this silly season. Let me show you how 🥰🥰🥰
I know a lot of you are desperate to feel better about food and your body - but it just seems so unattainable. Us mums don't have the time, money, or energy to hit the gym 6 days a week.
But what if I told you, in just 5 minutes a day, you will be feeling, and functioning better??
Well - you CAN! And here is HOW! 🎉Just commit to 5 minutes. 🎉
⚠️So many of my clients come to be saying they don’t feel motivated. Or if they do, it quickly burns out. Because they believe that motivation just appears, you either have it or you don’t. In reality…📢ACTION ➡️ MOTIVATION📢
The action comes first. Then motivation follows.
You need to stop setting yourself up to fail. Stop focusing on big goals right out the gates that are neither manageable, nor realistic. You will burn out fast and hard and feel like 💩.
Pick the smallest change that you believe you can absolutely commit to and stick with that. This is your kick up the ass to consider what small step you can take, starting from today.
Let me know in the comments below what 5-minute action you will commit to and I’ll check in regularly to see how you are going.
Stop expecting too much from yourself!
Because you are setting yourself up to fail. ❌Stop focusing on the end game. ❌
You are a mum. You are busy. You are stressed. You are overwhelmed.
And while setting unrealistic goals for the week on a Sunday night might feel good in the moment…
When you can’t follow through you feel like ass. AM I RIGHT❓
If I have a client who was eating no fruit, we might work together to find a comfortable goal – say 2️⃣ pieces of fruit a day.
Now if they come back to me and say they only managed one, you know what my first thought is??
🎉A win is a win🎉 Because they went from 0️⃣ fruit to 1️⃣ piece of fruit.
THAT IS PROGRESS FOLKS‼️
My job is to refocus their mind on the positive progress and to stop only looking at the negative. 😊
‼️You see, food is not the complicated part. Learning how to make changes is.‼️
This is the bit you will struggle with the most. And that is where a qualified Nutritionist can help change your whole perspective.
Are you somebody who struggles to appreciate the small wins? Drop a 👍 if this is you!
And if you want to start making change the right way, send me a DM and we can chat. 💞
I might be a Nutritionist, but I am still on my own journey to balancing work, life, and motherhood too!
This is what I am working on achieving this Winter.
1️⃣Staying true to ME! Social media can become consuming. You spend so much time trying to tick all the boxes, before you know it, months have passed and your original passion got lost somewhere along the way. I am taking back why I started this journey 4+ years ago. 💕
2️⃣More yoga. Hear me out. If you have not tried it, I recommend you give it a go at least once. As someone who is medicated for anxiety, starting yoga this year has really helped me to switch my brain off. And less general anxiety means less food-related angst.
3️⃣Me time!! I am starting to think that will require me to get my ass out of bed earlier. Because it is the only block of time I can find outside of late nights. And I love my bed too much for that!! I believe when we find situations that improve our well-being, we become less dependent on food to do so.
💡We become so focused on food, that we totally forget other elements that can impact our food decisions.💡
What are you working on this Winter? Let me know in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Have you been struggling to see positive change in your body?
You feel like you are taking the steps, but getting frustrated at your lack of results?
It is so disheartening, I get it. Who doesn’t want to see the changes they so desperately want.
But what if I told you there are mistakes you are making that are KILLING your chances of reaching your goals❓
So where do you start??
📢Get real honest with yourself. 📢
Because it is the #️⃣1️⃣step that needs to happen. And I am so guilty of this‼️
Lying to ourselves is so much easier than facing the facts. Staying in our comfort bubble is easier than stepping out. Repeating the same failing pattern is easier than trying something new.
Pick one aspect to hit face-on. And when that feels comfortable, try another.
It is not too late. This is not a race. So, stop trying to rush to a finish line that only you created.
But if you aren’t willing to try, with 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣% honesty, nothing is going to change. 🤷♀️
If this sounds like you, send me a DM to find out how we can work together.
Look - we all make mistakes!
And I made this one more times than I care to admit!
❓How often have you skipped meals during the day on the run up to a Christmas event?
➡️Believing it keeps calories down.
➡️Believing you can eat what you want because you have been ‘good’.
➡️Believing over-eating won’t happen.
⚠️But over-eating is EXACTLY what happens!
The 🔑 cause of overeating is hunger. The 🔑 cause of hunger is not eating enough (you know, like skipping meals!!)
The solution❓
Eat before you leave!!
Then, by the time the food portion of the evening rolls around, you will be comfortably hungry, not starving 🤷♀️
I teach my clients how to enjoy all events to the fullest. They eat the cake. They drink the champagne. They enjoy the cheeseboard.
Without guilt. Without shame. And without feeling like they need to ‘make up for it’!
If you want to avoid mistakes like this during the silly season, so you can enjoy it to the fullest, send me a DM today and we can organise a FREE call to discuss the next steps!!
Being a mum is hard.
And whether you are a Nutritionist. Stay-at-home mum. Solicitor. Or teacher. We all face similar challenges.
Yes, I have more knowledge about Nutrition than someone who has not studied the subject.
And yes, this gives me a theoretical advantage. 💭
⚠️But I still struggle to get out of bed most days.
⚠️Find myself eating the kid’s leftovers rather than making a proper lunch for myself.
⚠️Have days where I don’t eat a single piece of fruit.
⚠️Or my water intake was 💩.
I am a single mum. Relocated from across the world during the pandemic. Deal with pain every day. And have 100% responsibility for my 2 girls.
It is easy to look at someone who gives advice and think to yourself, “It is easy for them to say”. Assume that their eating is spot on and balanced 24/7.
Rather than disregarding everything they say, assuming they have it ‘easier’ than you. Consider they speak on it because the KNOW how hard it can be.
Take what will work for you. Leave the rest.
But NEVER underestimate or undermine what you are capable of. And offer the same to another mum. We are all facing our own battles. And all doing the absolute best we can with what we have.
