Please CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW AND VOTE FOR MY PAINTING - (HOGG'S HEAD by John Adams) To finally be seen after 25 years in storage in the Crawford Art Gallery
Its one of my best paintings and has been in the Crawford Art Gallery collection since 1999 and has never been seen again its been in their store room since then.
It is a great example of different techniques I have invented myself especially the liquid pouring of paint to get a very lifelike water quality.
A beautiful painting of Hogg's Head as seen from the amazing artists retreat Cill Railaig in Ballenskelligs County Kerry.

I am John Adams a Cobh Based Artist. I have spent ten years in Cobh and have turned my house into a community Arts Space for locals to use for no profit. I am doing it to try to bring more culture to Cobh and give the ignored artists of Cobh a chance to show what they do.
I have spent these years here trying to engage and get an opportunity to exhibit my work in the Sirius Arts Centre. I have only experienced a hostile reception.
Below is an outright refusal from The Sirius Arts Centre to ever give me a chance. THIS IS SIMPLY A DISGRACE how can they say there are no opportunities for local artists to show in a local arts center?
The Sirius Arts Centre has been run by a board who are mostly not in any way artistically qualified
They have appointed two directors who have run it for ten years. Both are extremely snobbish and hostile to Cork artists in general and the people of Cobh. So much so they don’t even bother advertise events around the town.
I spent my first six years trying to get Miranda the first director to come 200 yards to my house to see my art she refused and also refused to consider my work for an exhibition there She treated my like I was dirt on her shoe.
Then the Bord appointed Miguel an arrogant man from Portugal to run the Sirius who was just as bad for Cork artists and Cobh people even some of the workers in the Sirius told me he treats them as a underclass. Two artists on the Bord resigned because of Miguel's arrogance.
I have an email from this man telling me as long as he is director of the Gallery I will never show my work there. These two directors have had an obsession with the type of are the public hate and do not understand. Conceptual art. The year after Covid we saw an exhibition with an empty tin shed filling the whole main room for a year and in the other room a table with computers and shelving full of electrical equipment. This exhibition generated a lot of anger and bemusement because of its lack of any conventional relationship to traditional arts. The Sirius Arts Center is a disgrace the Bord and director should be sacked and Artist is people who care about Cobh people should be appointed. This is the perfect example of how ignorant and uninterested local politicians are in arts and culture.
The Sirius Arts Center used to be a proper arts center hosting plays, music, poetry, and many other community events. But stopped most of these activities under the last two directors, only recently they have started again in a very limited way because of so much criticism.
The Sirius Arts Center is an example of the lack of interest in promoting Cork artists by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and Cork County Arts, they have funded this disgrace of an arts center for its entirety.
The arts establishment is run by administration that blocks Artists from decision making committees and this is why the arts in Ireland is in such a terrible state and Irish artists find it impossible to get exhibitions in Publicly funded galleries.
ITS IS TOTALLY THE POLITICIANS FAULT Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil Obviously hate the arts, they appointed a Corporate Lawyer as chairman of the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon
Most of the Arts Officers in each county have no artistic background they were taken from the Clerical Council staff, it is my belief after many years as an arts campaigner they do this on purpose to stifle the arts and give artists no opportunities to show their work.
Even the Government organization National Campaign For The Arts that was set up as a representative of the Artists of Ireland has no artists on its committee. The do not allow artists to comment on any of their social platforms and there is no forum for artists to have a discussion. The directors and administrators have complete control of everything especially funding and decision making in the Arts.
Visual Artists Ireland Lifelong Learning refuse to discuss these issues because they are controlled by government.

It makes me so mad these arts administrators the Arts Council Ireland and Visusl Artists Iteland. They are all earning lots of money to run the arts in Ireland 🇮🇪 and they have no interest in promoting Irish artists.
They seem only interested in their CV’s and think it look better to show international artists.
