Meet me at the Summer Market

An initiative by a local crafter has resulted in a Summer Market taking place in the courtyard of the Arbutus Hotel.
Claire Lyne of Solzie Skincare & Candles put the call out on social media for people interested in taking part and she is thrilled with the response.
“We have a huge 18 stalls planned for the market which will tkae place on Sunday July 21st from 10am - 3pm”, Claire told Killarney Outlook.
“We have lots of different crafts and arts including Food Traders, Crafters, Soap Makers, Candles, Skincare, Home Made Cards and so much more she added.
“I was struggling with my own business and trying to find new ways of selling products, I found that the nearest place was inch. As I don’t drive, due to a medical condition, I had to depend on a friend which was inconvenient to say the least”, Claire said.
“I started to wonder why there were no markets in our own beautiful tourist town Killarney! So I just put up a post on my page questioning this? And the response I got was crazy! So I started asking around”.
The response that Claire got was overwhelmingly supportive and Pat Gill, Manager of the Arbutus Hotel got in touch, generously offering the Courtyard at the hotel free of charge.
And so the Killarney Summer Market was a reality!
“I was hoping for 10 stalls at most if I could but in the end it was 18 and I was turning people away after that”, a delighted Claire said.
“Local traders are bursting at the seams in Killarney and we have such a unique creative community right at our doorstep. So why not celebrate it”, she added.
:My goal is that the market will become become a regular event to boost our local economy, where local businesses and customers meet with fantastic unique products and services on show at a family friendly fun event.
Killarney needs this on a regular basis to promote our local businesses and help our local economy.
