Renovations at the Art Centre.

We have been so very lucky and happy here in the Owenabue Art Centre, Bridge House, main street Carrigaline. Our fantastic Landlord , Denis O Sullivan couldn't have been kinder and more supportive. However Planning permission has recently been approved for renovations so building work will be commencing shortly. Therefore over the course of the next few weeks all artists will be collecting their creations from The Gallery / Art Centre and putting them in storage.
We want to take this occasion to say a huge thanks to local councillors, especially Seamus McGrath who believed in our social enterprise initiative from the outset. Thanks to Cork County Council and the Cork County Arts officer, Mr Ian McDonnagh who provided much appreciated funding which facilitated exhibitions & workshops. The overheads at the Gallery, however, were completely down to sales, which any business will testify, is an ongoing challenge. Each artist paid commission, which alone made up the rent & utilities so we relied entirely on the support of the Carrigaline public. We are beyond grateful to the overwhelming local support and for that we are extremely grateful to each and every person who supported us in anyway. Thanks to Carol Conway, Creative Ireland, the Carrigdhoun newspaper, Carrigaline Notice board & the kind local business owners who championed our enterprise.

The Art Centre & Gallery will remain open on Saturdays for the next few weeks, until building work commences. Anyone with gift vouchers outstanding please pop in and chose from the huge selection of art, craft and design on offer.

Any business owner, open to hosting a display of local artwork, for a set period of time, would be most welcome to get in contact with Stephen, on 087 214 2256. Their generous act of kindness might bring some good luck in return- after all, each time we renovated & freshened up a new premises, investors noticed the building's potential very quickly & leased every single one of them for new local business. We are extremely proud to have created Carrigaline's first Art Centre and to have had a positive impact on our own town- who knows what the next chapter will bring.

A massive thank you to OAC Art Centre no 1 fan, biker & artist Victoria Alexander and everyone for Galvins Off Licence Carrigaline for sponsoring the most delicious wine and cheese at Sunday night's launch of our Hot Brushes Exhibition.

This was Vickie's first joint exhibition with fellow students, showcasing yet another one of her many talents. This event was very kindly opened by Cllr Michael Paul Murtagh deputising for the The Mayor of the County of Cork at short notice. Paul treated us to a song based around creating in all artforms and the need for self expression, which really set of the celebrations.
Spectacular Mia Gold added her own sparkle to the night, sashaying through the packed crowd of family, friends and art lovers. Thanks to Stephen for hanging the artwork in record time and to Carmel & Eimer for last minute help x

The sun shone down as art enthusiasts thronged to the Exhibition launch of " Hot Brushes" Sunday night. Arguably one of the most magical nights ever hosted in the Art Centre, this celebration had it all - stunning artwork, laugh out loud moments, great tunes, delectable wine, tasty tapas and one stunning motorbike;)

A massive thank you goes to Cllr Michael Paul Murtagh who deputised for the The Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Danny Collins at short notice. Paul treated us to a song based around creating and the universal need for self expression in all it's forms, whether on canvas, through song or performance.

The spectacular Mia Gold added her own sparkle to the night, sashaying through the packed crowd of family, friends and art lovers. What a gracious hostess !

This new exhibition entitled "Hot Brushes " is a tongue in cheek title for students first joint showing which embodies the fun spirit in which they created together all year, under the guiding hand of Mary Murphy The majority of artists had never exhibited before, although this was not at all evident from the calibre of work on display. Stunning seascapes, landscapes and intimate portraits in every hue and colour vie for attention and on display for the next three weeks with a few are available for sale
A massive thank you to my biker buddy and artist Victoria Alexander and everyone for Galvins Off Licence Carrigaline for sponsoring mouth-watering wine and cheese. Great to see Jim Kelly Engineer Cork & Michelle Hogan who ran in the door, hot from their very exciting twinning trip to Guidel which included a prestigious exhibition by three artists from the Owenabue Arts Collective Centre. Thanks so much for all that you do for Carrigaline on a purely voluntary basis. Thanks to Mark Kelleher & Saoirse McCabe for the fabulous article in Craving Cork.
