😳Confused at the new Travel Advice from the Government?

With the update to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) website last night and the exclusion of ‘all but essential travel’ last night for the countries on the green list.
✅This means you can now travel to one of the 15 countries on the list as they are exempt from the non essential travel rule.
✅The insurance company we use, will cover you for travel to these destinations ( Inclusion on the list is based on the current epidemiological situation and related public health information in each location. The list and related travel advice will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis, based on advice from officials including public health experts. Any updates or changes will be made in line with Government decisions)

From the department of Foreign affairs website:
Important Travel Advice Update
General COVID-19 Travel Advisory in Operation:
General advice to avoid non-essential travel and ‘Normal Precautions’ list of exemptions:

In accordance with Government policy, which is based on official public health advice, the Department of Foreign Affairs continues to advise against non-essential travel overseas. This includes Great Britain but does not apply to Northern Ireland. It also includes all travel by cruise ship. However, as of 21 July, travel to a very limited set of locations is exempted from this advice. The security status for those locations to which non-essential travel can resume has been changed to ‘normal precautions’ (“green”) rating. Individuals arriving in Ireland from these locations will not be required to restrict their movements on arrival. These locations are:

Cyprus
Estonia
Finland
Gibraltar
Greece
Greenland
Hungary
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Malta
Norway
Monaco

Carlisle Lake District Airport Opens
Stobart-owned airport has links to Dublin, Southend and Belfast.

Stobart-owned airport Carlisle Lake District Airport has launched commercial flights for the first time in more than 25 years.

The former RAF airfield has links to and from Dublin, London Southend Airport and Belfast City Airport, teaming up with Loganair. The transformation of the airport has included a new terminal, cafe, runways and taxis.

The inaugural service to Dublin took off on Thursday morning, amid celebrations for the opening of the airport. Some of the region’s best-known producers, such as The Lakes Distillery and Grasmere Gingerbread, are displaying at the airport.

The opening of the airport provides new access to the Lake District and Cumbria, with businesses expected to benefit from the new flights.

“Not only is this airport a significant new part of the Northern Powerhouse’s transport infrastructure – it is also a shining beacon of confidence and pride for Cumbria, Carlisle, the wider Lake District region and the Borderlands,” said Kate Willard, director of partnership development for Stobart Group.

Jonathan Hinkles, managing director at Loganair, said the routes would be “a complete game-changer” for the region’s connectivity with London and Ireland, and extremely beneficial for the business community.

Notice from CAR re flight disruption passenger rights and regulations. If you have booked with a good Travel Agent, you wont need this information, we will take care of everything for you.
"evere weather likely to cause significant flight disruptions
(26 Feb 2018)
Passengers scheduled to fly into or out of Irish airports may experience some disruption as a result of projected severe weather conditions due to snow and/or ice. If your flight is delayed or cancelled as a result of the severe weather forecast, it is important you are aware of your rights and entitlements.

FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS

In the event that your flight is cancelled then your air carrier must offer you the choice between the following:
- re-routing as soon as possible:
- re-routing at a later date at your convenience: or
- a refund.

If you choose the first option (re-routing as soon as possible) then your air carrier must provide you with care and assistance whilst you wait for the alternative flight. Care and assistance comprises:
- meals & refreshments in reasonable relation to the waiting time;
- hotel accommodation where an overnight stay becomes necessary;
- transport between the hotel accommodation and the airport;
- 2 free telephone calls/ access to email.

FLIGHT DELAYS

If your flight is subject to a long delay (2 hours +), your air carrier must provide you with the care and assistance described above. In addition, if your flight is delayed by more than 5 hours, it must offer you the choice between:
- continuing with your journey: or
- a refund of the cost of your ticket.
Please note that it is not possible for passengers to travel and avail of the full refund.

If your air carrier does not provide the care and assistance described above, passengers should make their own reasonable arrangements and retain all receipts in the process. Passengers are advised to then submit copies of these receipts to their air carrier for reimbursement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In both situations (i.e. flight cancellations and long delays) air carriers should provide affected passengers with written notices setting out their rights and entitlements under EC Regulation 261/ 2004.

Compensation is unlikely to be payable to passengers affected by flight cancellations or long flight delays as adverse weather conditions are incompatible with the safe operation of a flight and are regarded as exempt under the passenger rights legislation.

CONTACT US

Passengers who remain unclear about their entitlements as set out in EC Regulation 261/ 2004, or who have further queries in relation to same, should contact this Office on 1890 787 787 or + 353 1 6611700.
